This was our first trip to South Africa and we spent a total of three days at BlackHeath (at the beginning and end of our visit). BlackHeath provides a restful, friendly place to stay, with wonderful gardens, a pool and great facilities. The rooms are very well equipped and very comfortable. The grounds and the rooms were immaculate. The breakfasts were wonderful.
One of the highlights of our visit was meeting and getting to know Alwyn, the owner, and host extraordinaire. He was ever so helpful – with suggestions as to the best places to eat, and sites to see – and helping us arrange transportation. An amazing man with an indepth knowledge of Joburg and an obvious pride in his country, and city. We had several great discussions. So very enjoyable. BlackHeath is as fine a guest house as we have ever stayed at, and we have stayed at many over the years.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BlackHeath, and in Johannesburg. We will return again soon, and will return to BlackHeath.
