This past week we were invited to celebrate a birthday at a restaurant I have passed 100 times if not more, and never even noticed. Well its worth taking a look although the exterior is very modest and the interior is certainly not over done. In fact, its all refreshingly unpretentious.

The special menu had a wide choice and after placing beautiful salads and plates of small phyllo/goats cheese parcel on the table, orders for mains were taken. Next an excellent tomato soup flavoured with fresh basil was served and I wondered how the kitchen would cope with the orders of about 8 fillet steaks and 8 sole dishes all at once. Not to worry, we were all served at the same time - the special quirks of each guest fulfilled. The mains portions and excellent side vegetables were most substantial.

There was a selection of desserts and the home made meringues and berries were just the light touch needed after such a delicious meal. The service was efficient and unobtrusive, and I can't wait to go back to try the chicken pot pie!

I had lunch at Burnside's on Mandela day the 18th of July, and it was was so lovely and cozy and we had the most amazing food !!!!! I had the salmon pasta which was a true comfy and heartwarming dish, and the pavlova for dessert. YUMMY !!!!!!! The decor is great and the lovely outdoor patio was so nice for asking up the winter sun. Service i great and the flowers on the table was fabulous. Would recommend for anybody

Our meal with friends was most enjoyable. We sat outside on the heated patio and we were more than warm enough in spite of the chilly weather. The food was delicious. I opted for kingklip which was very well prepared. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. He has mastered the waiter art of appearing when he was needed but not interrupting conversation.

This is a warm and inviting place for a relaxed Sunday lunch, family lunch...just about anything involving relaxation and being together. A lovely converted house makes this a really inviting place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. The food is lovely, fresh and prepared with intelligence and flair. The ambience.... fabulous. You feel as if you are the only table there as the service is good and the space around you is plentiful. I will go back again and again and again.

Sitting on the wide cool verandah looking over a little neat garden having a relaxed lunch with the family is a wonderful way to spend a lazy Sunday. The stemware is generously proportioned, the table wide and solid and the chairs comfortable. The tiny menu focuses on perfectly cooked seasonal produce. I had a delicious lemony chicken salad made with micro-greens, my husband had a light salmon pasta and the children were provided with roast chicken strips and home-made chips (no boring kiddie menu - but children can only choose between chicken strips or fillet strips with homemade chips). To finish the lemon meringue pie was absolutely delicious. We will back again and again!
