This past week we were invited to celebrate a birthday at a restaurant I have passed 100 times if not more, and never even noticed. Well its worth taking a look although the exterior is very modest and the interior is certainly not over done. In fact, its all refreshingly unpretentious.
The special menu had a wide choice and after placing beautiful salads and plates of small phyllo/goats cheese parcel on the table, orders for mains were taken. Next an excellent tomato soup flavoured with fresh basil was served and I wondered how the kitchen would cope with the orders of about 8 fillet steaks and 8 sole dishes all at once. Not to worry, we were all served at the same time - the special quirks of each guest fulfilled. The mains portions and excellent side vegetables were most substantial.
There was a selection of desserts and the home made meringues and berries were just the light touch needed after such a delicious meal. The service was efficient and unobtrusive, and I can't wait to go back to try the chicken pot pie!
