I stayed at the African Pride on the business trip in April. Its an impressive hotel and the staff were great! I didnt have the pleasure of eating there unfortunately. The hotel itself is a bit overstyled, and I found the lighting in the room a bit wacky especially when all I wanted was white light to work under. That was the only let down because between the green lights in the corridors and the red, yellow and green in the rooms.....it gave off a "hanky-panky motel" vibe.
Saying that, as a business traveller it met my needs by providing a clean, comfy room with good internet connection.

Dear Ruz3012,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your experience at our esteemed African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel.

One of the wonderful features of our rooms is the ability to alter and play with a number of different light settings.

Please would you be so kind as to email me your contact details (gm@melrosearchhotel.com) so that we can ensure that the light settings in your room for your next stay will be more conducive to a working environment.

We do hope however that you will take some time out to explore the remainder of the hotel’s wonderful facilities, including our renowned March Restaurant!

The African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel ranks amongst my top 5 hotels worldwide. From consistency service to unadulterated focus on total customer satisfaction, this hotel boasts qualities that every discerning traveller wishes for: attention to customer needs. I recently had the pleasure of accessing the hotel penthouse (again!) located at the rooftop. With spectacular vistas of the Melrose Arch surrounds, this well-appointed eclectic piece of architecture is a marvel and makes for a spectacular setting for a private function or even if just taking a break form the vagaries of life. Be prepared for a world-class service! Spending any time at this African jewel will make you even more proud to be South African...

Room Tip: When checking in at the penthouse, ensure that you have cleared your diary as you set out to sample...

This was indeed, as the title suggest a great start to our holiday! As we spend a couple of days in Johannesburg before setting off to a Safari and then Cape Town, this was the best choice we could've made. The staff here was superb, the rooms were stunning and nothing can be faulted.
We received some excellent recommendations that were spot on every time. Will definitely be staying here again on our next South Africa trip.

I wrote a review about this hotel in November 2013, and have been back 5 times since. Christmas and New Years, February, and April. Nothing has changed, by which I mean, the same world class service, warmth, efficiency and care from every single member of Staff on every single visit, continues!!!! We celebrated with The Hotels Christmas Lunch which was fantastic!

And in February, I decided to hold my Mom's Surprise 80th (SORRY MOM CAT's OUT OF THE BAG) Birthday Tea here, with about 30 guests - so had to arrange everything in secret and liaise direct with the catering team!!! They were just fabulous, from making food changes for dietary needs, to the high tea menu itself (it was really more like an extended very posh finger supper with mouth-melting cakes), to arranging the dining room so that we could have privacy but not be shoved into a corner! The service was impeccable and still warm and personal, and when people loitered over their champagne and coffees after all the food had been consumed, no-one tried to herd us out to make way for the dinner guests! It was wonderful!!!! Thank YOU! No one had room for dinner either! Hotel service is great, it's so wonderful to be greeted by the same faces who remember your name, and personal details that you have shared with them. Also, my son has asked me to mention that many of the hotel staff helped him to make a Movie for Multicultural Day for his school, by agreeing to be filmed speaking in some of the many Language spoken in South Africa. I can only add that his school really got to see the best that South Africa has to offer!!!! And we will be back again and again!!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool will be quieter - as there are sometimes "events" in the square, whi...
