“Nice and comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2007

My room was spotless and very comfortable. The hotel is easy to get in and out of, it's across the street from a mall and good restaurants, there is a complimentary happy two hours, it felt safe, the internet connection is good, the parking is covered, and the staff was helpful and friendly. It was very quiet, but I stayed over New Year's and there was hardly anybody there. My only complaints are that the air conditioner is in the living room not close enough the bedroom to cool it to my liking on hot days and the TV stand in the bedroom is easily kicked if you get up during the night.

I stayed at the Courtyard Rosebank for 5 nights in November 2006.

The hotel staff, in particular the reception team, were very friendly and helpful. Every morning on my way to breakfast the reception staff would say good morning which was a nice welcoming touch.

The room I stayed in was a two bedroom suite - it was large and clean. As a business traveller I appreciate having a safe that is large enough to store a laptop which isnt' always the case in most business hotels.

The buffet breakfast has a wide selection to chose from and I enjoyed being able to sit outside with colleagues in the covered patio.

I didn't eat evening meal there, use the lounge facilities or the swimming pool so I can't comment on any of these.

There is a great shopping centre opposite the hotel with shops and restaurants and Sandton isn't too far away if you want more shops.

I would definitely stay here again.

This was the second time I haved stayed at the Rosebank Courtyard. The last time was in 2000 and the high standards experienced then have been maintained. The property is well located (adjacent to a major shopping centre and within 10 minutes drive of another) and represents excellent value compared to many of the International 'Chain' Hotels in the area.

The rooms are well maintained and equipped. I have stayed in a studio and a two bedroom suite and found both to be very comfortable. The studio room is virtually a one bedroom suite as it has a small kitchenette and dining area in the entrance lobby.

The grounds are well maintained and the staff courteous and helpful.

The breakfast service is good, with a wide selection above the South African 'average' in terms of quality and presentation.

The complimentary drinks and snacks for guests in the lounge of an evening are nice touch, perhaps more reminiscent of a B&B. It provides an opportunity to either have a quiet reflection on the day's work at a venue outside of your room, or the chance to meet and chat with other guests.

In summary, a well priced, good quality place that I will stay at again when next in Johanensburg.

I stayed one night at the Courtyard hotel on a stop over in Johannesburg. When I arrived in the evening the reception was in chaos as a large group was checking out and the duty manager was trying to check a group of non English speaking Romanian in at the same time. He asked me to wait 10 minutes but already after 5 minutes had the situation under control. He apologised for the delay and immediately upgraded me to a suite. A lot of international hotel chains could take a leave out of this approach! When I later tried to check out the 'honours bar' I realised that I was too late but again management offered me a free drink (double) on the house! The suite was excellent: spacious, pristine clean and all mod cons (kitchen etc). A definite find in Johannesburg!

Jo’burg can be an unsettling experience for first-timers and where you stay is important. The Courtyard is well located in Rosebank, one of the more centrally located northern (and safe) suburbs. You will get an insight into the lives of locals in that people stay here for business, and it is right across the road from the popular Rosebank Mall, with a good mix of shops, restaurants and cinemas, and which unusually, is partly open-air. Melville, Parktown, Sandton and other areas of interest are easily accessible by car. After a long flight the hotel was easy to find. It is comfortable and safe and good value compared to more upmarket hotels close by. Recommended.
