“Beautiful Open Space”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

It was a long weekend and we were wondering where to utilize the days without going out of Jo'burg. Got the idea of visiting botanical garden and it was totally worth it. Yes, people might think what to do in a botanical garden whole day long. But if you are a nature lover and like to be under the vast open blue sky and amidst the greens, its a place for you. There is lot of open space and greens where we spent the whole day and yes, we went there for two consecutive days. Me and my husband felt like we are back in our college days ;) and it's free :)

“Beautiful open space”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is a lovely space for walks or cycles. Rolling lawns, beautiful trees and plants, small and large dams. You can take children or dogs (on leashes). At the big dam is a rowing club, dinghy sailing club and model boat racing.

Although there have been the odd small crime incidents reported we have walked regularly in the very early morning without problems.

“Great for a walk on Sunday mornings”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

I frequently visit on Sundays for a walk with my dog. Great wide open spaces and lovely shady routes along the river under the trees if it's hot. Remember to bring gumboots after there has been a lot of rain because it can get a bit boggy in summer in some places. There are plenty of good places for that Sunday brunch in Greenside and neighbouring suburbs like Parkhurst when you're finished. If you bring your dog, make sure to use the lower entrances (on Beyers Naude side) where they are allowed and take a dog poopie bag just in case. A bottle of water is also not a bad idea as the river water is sometimes not always the cleanest in you're worried about your four-legged friend's stomach.

“Security guards not so friendly”
Reviewed 11 May 2014 via mobile

Me and my partner we went there after work for a walk. I must say I loved it, everything was beautiful and we had a beautiful time. I must note though that the security guards accused us of committing public indecency and we were highly offended. I was not pleased with that and if there is a way to address this matter to management. I will like to escelate this issue.

“Mother's day”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

It is free to go in, but it is not well kept. Toilets are in a bad state and the visitors are rough around the edges
