Captain 'Richard Babaganoush' made our evening special from the time he booked our reservation to the dessert being served. The food was absolutely sumptuous. Highly recommend the seared salmon and the steak with potatoes. The dessert platter was the area that could been improved on. Seemed a bit pricey for a small portion of standard creme brûlée and two other tasters. It is undoubtedly a fabulous restaurant & with that in mind I have a reservation there this Tuesday for what sounds like an awesome whiskey tasting with Highland Park & MacCallan. Will share reviews of that soon :)

What a gem in the North! This restaurant looks so simple tucked in amongst the others all in a row. Once the food arrives you realise that it is really unique! We ate there in a party of five on both occasions and everyone had different meals. Everything served was just to rave about! Most unusual in my experience! On leaving late at night after the wonderful experience we noted that all the other competitive restaurants were closing up with no patrons left at their tables but at Licorish almost every table was still occupied! What does that tell you?

Fasntastic dining experience. 'Lamb' and 'game' tasting platters were outstanding, both in taste and presentation. 'Fish' platter is to be tried next time. Tried Sea food Laksa, contained muscles, crab, lobster and prawns in a creamy sauce. Good comfort food. Excellent service!

So the menu is interesting. lotsa of south Africa and African flavours, however i think the dishes could be better prepared.
Textures of the food is quite tingly on the palate but i think that the flavour could be better. All in all a good night, decor and ambiance is awesome
