“Reflections on Ghandi's life”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

The renovation of Ghandi's home in Johannesburg was executed very well. The Satyagraha house is a sanctuary in the city. Ghandi's philosophy of simplicity is reflected in the colours, interior installation and the gardens. The beautiful concrete murals (by Sybrand Wiechers) portrays some of Ghandi's famous quotes. A very inspirational space.

“A magical, near mystical interlude in the heart of Johannesburg”
Reviewed 18 July 2012

On a frenetic business trip to Johannesburg, I set aside two hours to visit the Satyagraha House and was very happy that I did. The Satyagraha House is where Mahatma Gandhi from about 1909-1914, some of that time in the company of his great friend Hermann Kallenbach (who also designed the house). Even if you do not stay at the lovely guesthouse, you can visit the museum free-of-charge. The museum focuses on a portion of Gandhiji's time in South Africa and well as to those closest to him during that time. You can see the actual loft area when Gandhiji slept. Tastefully redone and an oasis of serenity - make some time to stop by.
