The Top of Africa gives beautiful views from the 50th floor of the Carlton Centre. It provides one with another perspective of Johannesburg and its surrounding area. Visited this attraction as one of the stops on the City Sightseeing tour (open top red bus). We were met by a representative of City Sightseeing who guided us throughthe Carlton Centre and accompanied us to the top floor. He also collected us when it was time to hop onto the bus again. The building, said to be the highest in Africa, is in a dodgy part of the city. The shopping area on the ground floor is a bit crazy and did not look too safe. The specially designated lift took us to the top floor very quickly and smoothly. The views from the top were awesome. In fact the city of Jogurg looks great from up there. One gets an idea of exactly how expansive this city is. There is ample opportunity for great photographs. Historical information is displayed throughout. This attraction is nothing too special but it also does not try and sell itself as such. The main idea is an opportunity to have a bird's eye view of this urban centre, and that it provides. A nice diversion if one has the time. A kiosk/coffee shop is available at the top.
