Nice place to go with friends or with family; especially if you have kiddies as there is normally jumping castles on weekends. If you have kids that love skating / biking; BONUS! - Close to restaurants. Wide variety of eateries. Flea Market & Shopping centre feel... Make sure you wear push ins so you can walk bare foot on the lawn next to their 'mini dam'

I love Brightwater Commons.

You can do anything from shop for groceries, play tempin bowling, go to the gym, go for ballroom dancing lessons, or shop for all sorts of odds and ends for your home.

It is an "open air" shopping complex with a lawn in the middle, with a flea market and also "musical fountains". Those are great to watch at night as the water dances and changes colour in time to the music!

There are many restaurants around the open area where people meet, eat and relax.

It is a special place at Christmas time when everyone gathers here to sing Christmas carols.

Definetly my favourite shopping centre in Johannesburg.

whenever the child needs to get out and play and the hubby is keen to sit around and eat and I am keen to shop, shop, shop... we head to Brightwater which meets all of these needs.
there is a nice junglegym right next to a decent enough cafe where we park the husband and child. then mum can go and hit PicknPay, Clicks, Mr Price, Ackermans and Woolies. They are all pretty small shops, but have the necessities. My fave is a kitchen shop hidden away above the woolies. lots of fun stuff and gadgets and very well priced.
for the older kids, there's a skate park (right next to the Spur!) and a carousel as well as nice open places to sit and chill. there's often stuff going on too.
and there's an established market in the centre of it all which makes for some great browsing.
all in all, it's a nice place to spend a few hours.
