Me, my wife and 2 daughters stayed over in Gold Reef Place for 2 nights. We were very surprised to find this little gem in Johannesburg. For a superb rate we could sleep in peace, have our car in secure parking and were able to reach different locations in and around Johannesburg with ease. Very neat and spacious rooms, clean bathrooms and make-up service while we could spend our time to do what we wanted to do. We will highly recomend this place to other guests and will stay over again on our next visit to Johannesburg. Thanks Gold Reef Place, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will see you again!!

Johannesburg was our first stop in a month long trip in Africa. Apart from its great value and location (great prices, great security, walking distance to Gold Reef Casino, Apartheid Museum, and a huge shopping mall), the owners/operators were absolutely fabulous! The airlines lost our luggage and they were extremely helpful in assisting us in tracking down our lost luggage... even after our stay with them! On top of that, they are just really nice people. I would highly recommend Gold Reef Place and given the opportunity, I would definitely stay with them again!

We stayed in a charming chalet round the back of the property, with its own kitchenette and a newly fitted ensuite shower & wc. The room was spacious and very clean, the shower was good, although we did run out of hot water on the first night. Good selection of pastries and breakfast cereal available in the rooms, with the option of a cooked breakfast in the main house. The location is quite good if you fancy a quieter, less ostentatious alternative to the northern suburbs. The Apartheid Musuem and Gold Reef City are nearby, and it is only a short drive from the city centre and Soweto. Parking is free, so I'd recommend renting a car for easy access to all the sights.

I stayed in this lovely b&b for 3 nights and did enjoy my stay. Firstly, it is very close to two of the main tourist attractions in Johannesburg, namely Apartheid Museum and Gold Reef City Theme Park. Second, it is very new and the rooms are very well decorated and spacey. Thirdly, the security (which is a very important issue in South Afirca and especially in Joburg) is very well provided. It also has a small garden which is suitable for travelers with children. After my stay I though that the price was very low for these features.

I do advise this b&b to all the travelers going to Joburg. But always book in advance as there are only three rooms (fourth one was on the way in August 2008).
