“You don't feel being in Jo'Burg”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

I am using this lodge every time I am staying in Jo'Burg area, and feel like being home.
The family owning this lodge makes everything possible to please you and really feeling part of the family.
Rooms are nice and comfortable, food is gorgeous and if you happen to be there when doing a Braai this is even nicer.
A place to go in the area.

We used Nkanga Lodge as our hub between flying to Vic Falls, Mozambique and Cape Town in November 2013. There was a group of 7 of us and on arrival for the second stay everyone said "great to be home!!" Our rooms were very clean, comfortable, and large!! The gardens were immaculate, we had breakfast and dinner every day and even the odd lunch - delicious hearty food!! Nothing was too much trouble, all in all Nkanga Lodge was one of the highlights of our trip to Africa!

We stayed here on the last night of our trip to Southern Africa. Being only 10 minutes drive from the airport, its the perfect place to rest up before the trip home. Whilst geared up mainly for busness travellers and conferencing, tourists are welcomed and made to feel totally at home; there is a mixture of accommodation but the detached bungalows, set in peaceful, landscaped gardens have great design appeal, whilst being spacious and luxurious with most mod cons. Plenty of birdlife to watch too - we even spotted a red cardinal in the reed beds. There's a well stocked bar and meals are taken at set times with the cooking having a home feel to it. We felt totally secure but with little evidence this was all under control and unseen. DB&B was 675 rand - great value too and the airport transfers 200 for all four of us. We would definately recommend this place at least for the first or last night of your Southern African holiday.

Room Tip: The detached rooms are not expensive

Spend a night at Nkanga Lodge - what an awesome experience. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful; the meals were delicious home cooked meals rather than tastless 'bulk cooking', the room was spacious and uncluttered and the grounds were peaceful and secure. A truly 'home from home' experience. My husband and I left feeling totally relaxed and spoilt, and can definitely recommend this lodge to anyone looking to escape the hustle, bustle of life.

Have stayed for a few days at a time on several occasions now. It is always a pleasurable experience. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere in the bar area and dining room is really great. The rooms are lovely, with nice beds and en-suites. There are home baked cookies and plunger coffee which is perfect for those light snacks when you wake up in the early hours when the jet lag hits you!

Shuttle bus service & transfers can be arranged and the service works very well. Nkanga is located very close to the airport so it only takes a few minutes and there is no worry about driving. Transport to other places in and around Johannesburg can be arranged for you.

Room Tip: They are all good!

Stayed with our family for one night in november 2012 at nkanga lodge. What a lovely place so close to the airport. Why go to an airport hotel if you can stay here just 10 minutes drive from the airport. Because we stayed with two little children Nkang allready arranged a perfect room around the courtyard where the children could safely play. The room was clean and large with ensuite bathroom. Because we allready arrived in J'burg in the morning. We asked if a lunch could be arranged. This was no problem at all, they even prepared a lunch especially for the children. Diner and breakfast were also very good. We highly recommend Nkanga as a place to relax after a long flight.

Stayed here in January 2012 for 10 days. Excellent accommodation in african style private lodges with beautiful ensuite bathroom, outdoor shower, pateo to sit and watch the birdlife in the morning around the dam, landscaped gardens to walk around. Little touches like beautiful shower gel and body lotion, freshly baked cookies and ground coffee in the room each day, turn down at night with chocolates on the pillow make it more special. Staff helpful and friendly and the on-site owners wonderful people, nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast each day consisted of every choice you could possibly want and drinks in the bar at night and dinner wonderful. Going back in December 2012 and taking our children and grandson with us to experience "our Africa" we grew up in. Considering the crime situation in South Africa it is a very safe environment at Nkanga. The lodge is very close to Johannesburg airport so ideal place to stay before and after air travel where you will receive a warm welcome..
