“What a load of rubbish”
Reviewed 20 July 2013 via mobile

You pay R480 per person to get samosas as a starter, followed by a choice of chicken, lasagne or macaroni cheese for a main and followed by a selection of tarts. What an absolute waste of money and a load of rubbish. Avoid it unless you have money to burn and if you do rather burn it at home on the braai, It will be a great deal more fun and at least the food will be palatable. Madame Zingara 10/10, this place amateurish and desperate.

“Great food, beautifully presented, but a couple of snags....”
Reviewed 1 June 2013

If judged on food and ambiance only, this restaurant would have rated 4 1/2 stars.
The presentation and food quality were really excellent. Wines were reasonably priced for this type of venue, with several decent wines around R200 or less.

The starters were around R80; the crispy duck salad and sativia salad were terrific and good sized portions. Escargots were good too, served with a blue cheese sauce.

The pork and beef tenderloin dishes were outstanding; As good as any London restaurant and equally well presented. Priced at around R140 and well worth it.

OK, so why mark the restaurant down?

The menu is, of design, very limited, fitting easily on a single folded A3 page in big print. We were quite early on a Friday evening and yet 4 items were not available despite the restaurant being quiet. This was disappointing as we had eyed up the lamb shank, warthog carpaccio, tiger prawns and salmon, only to be told that none of these were available.

Also we were not offered the dessert menu, nor coffee; we had to flag down the waiter and ask for the latter. I think the staff wanted to go home and had lost interest in us, despite good service when we arrived.

The décor is very simple and elegant. Simple white linen. Also highly variable colour mood lighting. A lovely warm fire behind glass. Uncluttered walls.

Signage at the road entrance is poor. Most people drive past in the dark. Safe off road parking.

With a little bit of care, and some advertising to bring in more diners, this could easilly be one of Gauteng's top restaurants.

“Great venue in Midrand”
Reviewed 9 October 2012

Great venue in the Midrand area with a fine dining restaurant that offers amazing 7 course meals and a bistro (on a lovely patio) with some classic comfort foods. The fine dining section is very refined and elegant and the bistro's more casual and relaxed.

They have off-street parking which is safe and an adjacent water park for the kids.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, especially where the wine list was concerned (they have a great selection!).

Definitely going back!
