“Worth it!”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

This delightful little hotel is set in a wildlife estate minutes away from the city rush. We stayed over on a Friday evening and was lucky enough that it was one of their wine pairing evenings at Roots. The onsite restaurant offers one of the best food experiences I've ever had. It was a 5 course adventure and worth every cent. The rooms are lovely and everything you expect from a 5 star establishment.

I am always in two minds whether to host a business event at a venue like this... If your team needs to really get away within a short distance from a major city this is perfect. Accommodation is over the top for a business sleep over so create time for your team to relax and enjoy - perhaps let them invite their partners with! Food great - service can be more attentive!

We had lunch and dinner at Roots a number of times before but stayed over at Forum Homini for the first time over Easter 2014. Our one night stay was an absolute treat from the word go. The rooms are spacious and styled to make one feel part of nature. Ideal for a break for one or two nights (without the kids given the 12 year age restriction), supplemented by the fact that its a mere hour's drive from most parts of JHB. My wife and I will definitely return and can strongly recommend the dinner, bed and breakfast treat out in nature.

Went there for an anniversary and we were treated like a bride and groom. Absolutely awesome luxury rooms with beautiful views. Roots restaurant have lovely meals, not your usual rice meat and potatoes but certainly memorable! Will go back again any time

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite for sure

The main reason we booked into this hotel was the architecture - I had seen pictures, and wanted to see the real thing. It was exceptional. :-) Nothing else disappointed either. Food was the best I ever had, and the service was great. Will be back for sure!

My friend told me about his stay at this hotel and the restaurant Roots. He is always right about this type of thing so we gave Roots restaurant a try today...it"s our 29th anniversary...I cant believe my Schatzen has put up with me for so long....

We did the set 6 course lunch together with the wine pairing option. We had a fabulous experience. You should try it!

I know for sure we had at least 20 interesting things on our plates during the afternoon (you need to write the afternoon off) that we have never had before, and no, no strange stuff that Fear Factor is made of.

Our waitron Marco, was energetic, excited and interested in describing each dish as it came forward, as was Jacques our sommelier, but perhaps to a lesser extent in the enthusiasm department.

Adriaan, the chef, hit all my targets when it comes to what I was expecting of a fine dining experience. Well done boet! It was just...Great!

Now, in closing I would also like to thank Zandri who set this all up..answering email enquiries after 8 pm is not what you would expect from anywhere, not to mention her follow ups early in the morning.

We had a great afternoon out thanks to you folks at Roots. My Schatzen thinks you are awesome too!

Good luck for the future

Room Tip: Ask for Marco, He is great!

I stayed here for a week and wished it could have gone on for another. The service is amazing and the environment makes you feel you are in another world. The property. Is a ranch with several varieties of game. It is the first hotel I have stayed at where I had to sign a loss of life waiver form. They have three hippos on the property that an Beverly dangerous if you are where you shouldn't be when you shouldn't be there.
The meals are gourmet with breakfast, lunch and dinner being multiple courses. But we also found the staff to be more than willing to accommodate special requests. Not adding things but simplifying when we just couldn't handle the huge meal they were offering.
Everything was wonderfully managed and it was a delightful stay. I would highly recommend the property for anyone staying in the area.
