“Awesome wind-down place!”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Came here for 4 nights with friends and the ambience was just fantastic for distressing. Well kept rooms, gardens and fountains but best of all was the customer service which was phenomenal right from the entrance to the Spa treatment to the management. I highly recommend this place to all international travelers as it truly embraces people of all nationalities, creed and background. The Carnivore restaurant is around the corner with all sorts of meat from the domestic and wild to try out. Actually you never have to leave this place for anything as it is self contained.

The grounds of Misty Hills are drop-dead gorgeous. Winding paths through beautiful flora and water features. The rooms are amazing--very Africa with high thatched ceiling not only in the room but also in the bathroom.
That's the good part. The furniture and TV's in the room need updating. The TV is ancient. Internet connection was a constant battle in my room--301--maybe it's not that way in other rooms. If you are trying to do business via internet, you may have a problem. This hotel is not for the old or infirmed---walking from the parking lot to your room can be a daunting experience...as is the walk from your room to anyplace on the premises.
We ate at the famous Carnivore restaurant that is on the premises. Everyone needs to do this once.

Stayed at Misty Hills for two nights and highly recommend it! Found it to be very clean, fantastic service, lovely "African experience". The breakfast was outstanding and Carnivores is always excellent. Adapters in rooms for international appliances, fast wi-fi (refreshing after experiencing poor wi-fi reception in a few other hotels around SA). Heaters in rooms, cozy decor and very quiet. Will definitely stay there again!

The Carnivore restaurant was amazing. Definately recommended if you are looking for that something out of the ordinary. Good service and friendly assistance. Beautiful gardens and spacious rooms. An excellent stay.

Misty Hills Country Hotel offers a comfortable conference package for small to large groups. The entrance to the hotel is impressive and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is clearly a strong emphasis put on staff training and keeping morale up at the hotel.
The layout of the facility allows for walks through planted gardens with water features, so you do get a sense of being away from it all.
The food was varied and abundant, although typical hotel buffet style. An interesting touch was the availability of a soup hot-pot at the morning tea break.
The room was comfortable but not at all sound proof. It was possible to hear all the movement from the room upstairs, and the shower was fitted with probably the cheapest shower head on the market. Other guests in our group complained about the traffic noise from the nearby free-way.
The air-con certainly helped keep the room at a fixed temp during the chilly night, and must be a winner for summer.

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms near the perimeter of the grounds, or near to the service road. Rooms are...

Stayed at Misty Hills for a conference recently. Stayed a few years ago, and felt it was better then than now.

Don't get me wrong - it's a nice place, but this time I got a room which backed on to the access road, so early morning traffic was very distracting. The thatched lodges leaked sound from outside, so try and ask for a quieter room.

I arrived early morning, coming in from London, but was told that no rooms would be available until 2pm. I think the hotel could second guess where guests would be coming in from and try and accomodate early arrivals if at all possible. No options were given to me as to how to spend my time - which was filled with wandering around and having coffee.

Wi-Fi was intermittent and you had to rely on a code, which became useless part way through my stay.

All in all - could be a little bit better, but still a nice venue.

The Garden is beautiful and is always green and very peaceful. We went for a quite break away from the city noise.. The Management and Staff - very respectful and they always welcome people with a smile. I have been to Misty several times. Misty is a home away from home. GJD, Johannesburg
