A great base for a trip to Cape Town if you want to hang out where locals go - away from the tourist hotels of the Waterfront. Just a stroll away from Newlands Village and Cavendish Square , quietly efficient staff , pleasant breakfast and the odd tortoise add to a lovely experience. If you want a treat do book a treatment at the Spa and explore the Gardens beside the River.Room very comfortable and we had a balcony with lovely Mountain views.Though it's not necessary to wear your safari suits here as some guests chose to do!

My husband and I were treated to a spectacular view and setting with a mountain facing room. the rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished, and clean. Although some of the decor in the passages may appear to be tired - don't be mislead as the rooms are not. Rooms service excellent as were breakfasts. A memorable trip and I would love to return.

Room Tip: Mountain facing rooms in the main building are the best especially if the weather is bad.

This hotel is a wonderful upmarket
Conference venue. There are beautiful gardens, good service, gourmet food and comfortable accommodation. The conference rooms are large and spacious and the conference food is fresh and well presented. This is the best conference venue we have been to.

The service was excellent, from the valets who parked the car to the friendly receptionists and waiters.
We would stay there again, not on business next time but to enjoy the peaceful garden with its mountain view and the tortoises that walk by or just to sip wine on the garden terrace.

This is a grand place in a spectacular setting. Conveniently situated close to the bustling southern suburbs yet offering the sound of bird song in the manicured gardens. The area offers an infinite choice of local eateries and bars, shops and entertainment. What of the service? Excellent. Marvellous. So what piqued me? A hole in the bed linen, a chip on my cup and, worse still, sagging dining room chairs where guests are offered cushions to add height and comfort. Would I go back? YES!

We have visited the Vineyard a number of times and it has become a firm favourite. The service is outstanding, staff are friendly and really go out of their way to make everything excellent.
The food is great and the view is wonderful.
Their afternoon tea is also really a treat.

Really cannot fault the hotel, where I was staying for a bit of business and a few days of relaxation. The gardens are a massive bonus, with amazing views of Table Mountain everywhere you turn. (Although you might have wanted to turn away from the resident turtles which were procreating right in front of the restaurant one busy lunchtime!)

The larger outdoor pool is unheated, but I managed a quick dip even in the depths of winter (August). There is a small indoor pool too. I ate at the Square restaurant several times, which was exceptional and fantastic value for money. The wine list is, as you might expect, also excellent both for bottles and wines by the glass.

Claremont is a drive away from downtown Cape Town, but very well positioned for Kirstenbosch botanical gardens (a must) and the main roads to Simon's Town, Constantia wineries, etc.

I would heartily recommend the Vineyard to others, and have told a friend he should stay here on his honeymoon!

Room Tip: A new wing was built at the time of the football World Cup, running parallel to Colinton Road but wi...

We stay at the Vineyard every time we are in Cape Town and have never been disappointed. The setting is about as good as it gets with views of the mountain, lovely gardens that run down to a river and beautiful buildings. This 4 star hotel provides excellent service provided by friendly staff and has a couple of restaurants and bars. The food is good and very favourably priced for overseas visitors.
The rooms are spacious and well appointed and some have panoramic mountain views which attract a price supplement but there are some rooms at the standard price with partial mountain views. As you would expect from a hotel of this standard there is a concierge service, guest relations desk and room service is available.
There are plenty of good restaurants in Newlands and the neighbouring suburbs and the hotel provides a courtesy shuttle service to restaurants within a limited radius of a few kms. Newlands cricket and rugby grounds are an easy 20 minute walk or a short taxi ride. The hotel can also provide transfers to the airport and the V&A Waterfront for those without a hire car.
The fact that The Vineyard is in the suburbs rather than the city centre is a big plus as far as I am concerned because you get all the peace and quiet of Newlands but you are only 10-15 minutes drive from the city centre sand the waterfront. The Constatia wine route, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Rhodes Memorial and the University of Cape Town are all a short drive away.
This is a hotel we never get tired of and I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
