After an exhausting day visiting the Design Indaba at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, what a wonderful treat it was to arrive at Sun Cottage B&B in Newlands! The welcoming, tree-lined driveway, cosy thatched upstairs hideaway, complete with own private decked balcony, nestled amongst the lovely lush foliage of mature oak trees, made my stay there a truly memorable, peaceful and tranquil one.........the perfect retreat from everything!

We have been lucky enough to stay at Sun Cottage twice - one long stay in the Loft Suite and one short stay (too short!) in the River Room - and cannot fault the accommodation, the setting/location, or the welcome. We have recommended to family members, and will definitely be back ourselves.

We had a fantastic stay at Sun Cottage. It is a home away from home, beautifully located and within reach of most of the Cape Town's attraction.

The Loft room is spacious, cozy and just unfaultable. It overlooks a small stream which is very calming and quiet giving one a piece of mind. Excellent for business or couple.

The owner, Jean is also a very pleasant host and makes you feel very welcome at her Cottage.
A definate return trip/stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at this guesthouse. The surrounding was peaceful with a tinkling stream outside and the white decor of the room inside added to create a sense of serenity and stillness. The room was immaculate and there has such an attention to detail to make a guest feel comfortable. I was attending a conference and found the wifi very useful to follow up on work matters. The complementary breakfast was both tasty and healthy and I could sit outside and enjoy the food on the wooden veranda surrounded by mother nature. The cottage is within walking distance of shops and resurants.
I hope to use this lodging in the future.

Capetown is a fabulous city, but Sun Cottage in leafy Newlands is a wonderful resting place after a day of sightseeing.Charming rooms..the loft room is in traditional thatched architecture, very well appointed and immaculately clean with ensuite bathroom and kitchen and balcony overlooking a stream allowed relaxing eating in,but there about four excellent restaurants within a kilometre.Newlands cricket ground is nearby. This is very safe area, the house is really safe, and the owners are a really delightful couple with a fund of knowledge about Capetown and greater South Africa....this really is a gem!
