This guesthouse is well situated for business travellers who needs to be in Pretoria East. The N1 highway is also easily accessible as well as a range of shopping malls and restaurants.
The guesthouse serves breakfast from a menu in addition to the limited selection of cereals, yoghurt and fruit salad. Dinner is also served but I never used this option. However, one is told early morning what will be for dinner and then asked if you will have it. Knowing what one wants to eat 12 hours into the future is a bit too much to ask and then presenting only one option is not what endeared me to Richtershuyz. The chef has also varied Eggs Benedict and replaced the usual slithers of smoked salmon with thick slices of cheap breakfast ham and a further two rashers of bacon are served with the eggs; the Hollandaise sauce also requires more practice. Breakfast is served at 7 am which is a bit late if one has an 8 am appointment somewhere in town.
The standard rooms (Room 3) are small although decently furnished and with good bedding. There is ample cupboard space and the bathroom is large. Deskspace is, however, limited and the wi-fi very unstable. Similarly 3G connectivity (Vodacom) is not good at all in the area and a 2/5 signal is the best I got.
The rate for the single room was R650 (Euro 65 approx). If you want to stay here, ask for Room 7 the executive suite. This is large and spacious with all the comforts and you pay accordingly.
