One of the best hotels I have visited. Staff are friendly and helpful. Services are excellent. The staff make sure that you know the policy of the hotel and help you out whenever you need. The price is very good compared to the services you are offered. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning to visit Pretoria.

Struggled enormously to get anyone answering on simple question.
Spent over 45 minutes on the phone.
The room is good, not great at all.
The sofa was stained, the carpet is dirty, the bathroom is old.

We had dinner included - don't bother. It is a very simple buffet with food which you can find at the local corner restaurant. Cold stew, old salads, very poor desserts - really not great, especially for a 4 star hotel.
The "VIP Lounge" is one of the worst when it comes to Sheraton hotels and the staff is less than helpful.

Disappointing experience overall

We stayed at this hotel for4 nights, far too many, personally 2 nights are enough.
We had a classic room which was nice enough.
You do not wander out of this hotel, unless with a tour or guide it is very dangerous area.
You do have options to do day tours with the hotel.
We took the zulu culture tour... highly recommend, a bit expensive but well worth the experience

This hotel is well-appointed and clearly a favourite with visiting dignitaries and government officials but falls short of a being a welcoming hotel for the private visitor. Check-in was efficient while not overly friendly. Our room was hot and stuffy with a window that could not be opened and an air-conditioner that failed to cool the room. The great view of the Union Buildings was spoilt by the extremely dirty window. The hair drier in the room was not working but luckily my wife had brought her own. Wifi was free but was extremely slow.
The service at dinner when food was ordered from the menu was extremely slow and the chicken breast portion that my wife ordered from the main course section of the menu was so small it could have been mistaken for a starter which it was not. My steak was acceptable. The dining area seemed more geared to the buffet which we did not want although breakfast was acceptable.
On check out we waited in the lounge area of the foyer as it was more comfortable than the hot room. Again service was slow and chaotic due to a lack of staff with a bowl of snacks taking almost an hour to arrive.
In summary, a grand looking hotel situated in an area other than the grand Union Buildings, that has seen better days and where service levels are currently disappointing.

We popped in here for a quick drink as it was quite warm. But we’re tempted with the simple but perfectly formed lunch menu.

Pizza and risotto fitted the bill. Very nicely done. Lovely environment and staff attentive.

Even a walk by from the manager was pleasant and welcoming.
