Owner description: The Cheetah Centre in South Africa was established in 1971, initially as a cheetah breeding project and the Centre has during the past 40 years bred over 800 cheetah cubs. Various conservation projects have been initiated since its inception which also inlcudes a successful African wild dog breeding programme. Known in the past as the De Wildt Cheetah Centre the name has recently been changed to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of the cheetahs as well as other rare and endangered species

“Run Cheetah Run !!”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

It was amazing to see several cheetah's run. Although the cheetah's were not running at full speed they were just a blur. The Centre is doing a great job in protecting this beautiful cat from extinction.
If you like wild animals this is a must see.

The cheetah runs are only at certain times so check this before going!

“Don't miss it”

It is a great experience to see what these people do for these animals. The team gives you a warm welcome. I was greeted by Lucas and Louise. They were very gentle and accommodating. Lucas conducted the tour for about 50 people, we saw obviously cheetah, wild dogs, vultures, ostrich, impalas, honey badgers and a few more. A day to relax and learn in a beautiful scenic location

“One of a kind Cheetah Centre”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

We had a family outing to the cheetah centre where during the tour we were told how a farmers wife took pity on orphaned Cheetah cubs years ago. Now this centre has already made breakthrough research in the King Cheetah. If it is not for this centre the Cheetah population would be even more endangered. Please support. a Must visit for all animal lovers. The highlight of this family outing was to stroke a Cheetah. Cameras allowed. There is no Restuarant on the premises. Cards accepted at the curio shop.

We were around the area at Bill Harrop's and decided to try our luck at the Cheetah centre, and it was worth it. Although we arrived in between two tours, and we're able to wait for the next one, we were able to interact with the alpha male, King Shaka. What a beautiful animal!! So graceful and extremely calm. His neighbour, Charlotte, was getting jealous at the attention.

It was a short and sweet visit and totally worth the trip.

Thank you to the staff at the centre for allowing us to interact with Shaka.
