A Victorian house with gorgeous grounds and historical importance. We loved the guided tour and found the house and it's history charming! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A lovely visit, nicely guided through the house, with meaningful anecdotal input. Wonderful to see a good level of restoration is being well conducted. Pleasant restaurant, shaded in the open air, walking around the area a small but meaningful number of bird species were seen, a highlight being the observation of three thrush species, Karroo, Groundscraper and Kurrichane, bronze mannikin, common waxbill. Outbuildings are in need of attention as the elements are taking their toll, some signage and direction around the outskirts of the property would be a useful addition. Would certainly recommend others to visit.

Definitely worth a visit. Limited menu for breakfast, brunch and lunch together with "picnic" baskets. Werner Weinbeck famous restaurateur (Bacardi's at Sterland, Pretoria) runs the restaurant. Great sitting in the garden enjoying good meals at reasonable prices.

Visiting the Sammy marks Museum was one of the highlights of our recent visit to South Africa.
What a remarkable interior.
What a wonderful guide.
The snack we had in the grounds was very nice and the tranquillity of the place is inspirational.
This is a must if your in the Pretoria/Johannesburg area.
I'm going again next time I'm in S.A.

Learned a lot about South African history here, as well as seeing the very nicely-preserved property.

It was apparently good to be rich and have powerful connections in his days. The grounds and house are beautiful, and the guide was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Mr. Marks' history, family, and accomplishments.

It was a very nice, off-the-beaten-path visit.
