Stayed at Glenalmond Hotel for 6 nights in Feb 2013 in two bedroom apartment. Very well placed just behind Hilton Sandton on Daisy Street. Good size apartment with two double beds and in suite 22 one twin and one double. Good kitchen with all the utensils required for basic needs, two bathrooms requires renovation although very clean.Large terrace with tables and chairs for sitting.Secured Parking available for all the apartments.
so overall good and location excellent as close to Benmore Gardens ( woolworth, Pickn Pay , groceries booze and other shopping ) just 300 mts Sandton city and Nelson mandela square walkable although no one walks in Joburg.Found very safe city as traveled extensively and saw no untoward incident which is what everyone says about Joburg. Would recommend to travel without any fear as it is safe city.

Although this is only a three star hotel, which offers self catering as well as bed and breakfast, we were very impressed with the service and accommodation on offer. From the time we arrived early in the day, we were looked after very well. The hotel itself is located about 7/8 minutes walk from Nelson Mandela Square, and close to the shops in the Sandton Mall and the Gautrain station. The rooms are spacious and clean, and our suite had a spacious yet secluded balcony which was ideal for breakfast or a little sun bathing. Our suite comprised a kitchen (appointed with cooker, microwave, toaster etc.,) and we appreciated having milk in the fridge and coffee, tea and sugar available on arrival. Our bathroom had both a shower and a bath and the water was always hot. Our bedroom was spacious with ample cupboards and storage and we liked the fact our bed linen was changed every third day. The swimming pool was kept clean and was a pleasant place to relax. Breakfast is available if you want it and there was ample to eat including fresh fruit, juices, muffins and croissants as well as 'the full English' if you wanted it. We would certainly stay there again if in Johannesburg. The staff looked after us very well - particularly Angela in our suite, and Francis who went out of his way to do things such arrange taxis for us. We did have a few little niggles - we twice asked for more coat hangers which never arrived, and the kitchen lacks a mixing/salad bowl although it is otherwise well equipped. One or two items needed replacing such as our outside table which was slightly broken. The internet connection was not reliable either. Had it not been for these shortcomings, I would have awarded this modest small hotel an 'excellent' rating. It is not perfect - we had a nice big fan in our room, but other guests might have liked air con, but for the price you pay we thought it an excellent find, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Johannesburg who wants to be central and who does not necessarily want to hire a car.

Room Tip: The rooms on the first floor have more privacy and a balcony. There is no fitness centre but there is a very nice small swimming pool with sun loungers.

This hotel is a nice family and business traveller's haven. Centrally located in Sandton and within walking distance to important facilities.

The reception was very welcoming and the apartment layout was quite roomy and homely. With the self catering facility, as a familiy we enjoyed our holiday and had freedom of choice of quality home made food.

A very pleasant and worthy experience

A basic but clean option very close to Sandton City. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, separate lounge and dining area and kitchen. No air conditioning but a fan for each bedroom. It is best to ask for a renovated unit on the far side against the wall for privacy. The unit had little extras like water and milk in the fridge, washing up liquid in the kitchen and tea, coffee and sugar satches. It is possible to walk to Sandton City but a bit too far if you have to carry shopping bags. The restaurant is extremely basic and not worth a visit

Room Tip: Very important to insist on a renovated unit

We are glad to see that you enjoyed your stay. We take every review seriously and we are always looking at ways in which to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Because our apartments are self catering and we are in the Sandton CBD with several restaurants around us, we thought it useful to provide our valued guests with a decent breakfast.
That is the only meal prepared on site. We certainly hope that you will come and stay with us again to see the vast changes that are taking place at your future second home! Happy New Year! :)
