“'Very good hotel in Joburg'”

I stayed in this hotel, room 420 from March 25-April 1,2014 (vacation), first time to Africa.I must say that I enjoyed my stay. The hotel and it's surroundings are very clean and comfortable. I walked to Nelson Mandela's square everyday by choice, because of it's close proximity to this hotel, and it's safety to walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful, those from housekeeping, security, and the desk downstairs at the entrance. Except for the 'indian' looking young man at the front desk who was very cold, everyone was warm towards me. I also liked the closeness of the hotel to the train station, so one does not have to pay taxi fare to and from the air-port. I will definitely return to this hotel.

Arrived early at the hotel for a two night stay. Had to wait for a room to become available. When a room did become available, I went up to the assigned room only to find that it was already occupied. The front desk realized their mistake and someone came running down the hallway but only after I had already entered the room. The quickly assigned me another room. The rooms are a good size, the bed was comfortable and the wireless worked well. There was also a nice breakfast served in the restaurant.

During our last trip to South Africa We stayed two nights in Radisson Blu Gautrain. It was wonderful. It was our second time in this hotel. The first one was last year. But this time it was much better. The hotel is placed in a very convenient place - near the Sandton train Station and short distance from Mandela square with all its restaurants. The room was very very good. The breakfast - the best we had in our 3 weeks trip and the attitude toward the guests was very personal and warm. We were touched by the fact that one of the hotel's managers recognized us from our last stay and gave us a free drink as a frequent customers. We will stay there again in our next trip to this interesting and fascinating country.

This hotel is at he doorstep of the Gautrain station in Sandton, it ticks all the boxes of a world class hotel group, so worth exploring.The food was fresh, the business desk facilities more than adequate, was able to access my emails and print out my documents. The WiFi is free and fast, my teenage daughter loved it!

The pool deck area is brilliant for hanging out and for meetings, there is seating everywhere. There was a buy one drink and get the second free arrangement during my visit and that was such a welcome distraction.

The reception arrangement can be confusing but works once you figure it out. Would recommend this place for the businessperson and even family with older children.

Stayed in the Radisson Blu Gautrain for 2 nights in a business class room (corner room). First the good points: good king size bed, good breakfast, good restaurant. Now over to the painpoints:

- the room didn't have any WiFi connectivity at all. Even the network cable wasn't working. Upon calling Swisscom (wayport), promises were made to have it fixed, but alas. Enquired at the reception the day after to see if it was fixed - they couldn't even see that there was an issue reported. Back in the room, the WiFi still didn't work and the dodgy network cable wasn't replaced. At that point, I gave up on having free WiFi during my stay.

- the assistants at the entrance reception are a joke: they're supposed to take care of a shuttle service to the Sandton mall. Getting there was no problem, but after calling them 3 times to get a return pick-up, I gave up and walked back (it's only a 10 minute walk).

- in case you have arranged pick-ups, they will be chased away as there is no parking space in front of the hotel. I had to cross the busy road numerous times to get to my taxi. Ridiculous and dangerous as well.

All in all, paying 200 EUR per night for such a lousy experience is not worth it. It's scandalous and Radisson unworthy. Stay away from this hotel - I will certainly do so in future!

Room Tip: Stay away from this hotel. Full stop.

Thank you very much for selecting the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel as your hotel of choice on your recent visit to Johannesburg, we are so sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations of a Radisson Blu Hotel.

One of our brand standards is to offer complimentary WIFI to all our guests that stay with us so we would really like to apologise for you not having WIFI, we are in the process of a internet upgrade which should guarantee that every single room in our hotel has great WIFI connectivity,

We will be addressing the mentioned issues with regards to your concerns over the timing of our complimentary shuttle service and make sure that measures are taken to speed this service up for all guests staying with us. With regards to pick up vehicles waiting outside the hotel, Rivonia road is one of the busiest roads in Johannesburg and we cannot let vehicles stand and wait on that road as it will cause major backlogs on traffic flow so our assistants always suggests that the drivers wait on the other side where there is a slip way for parking and waiting, next time suggest that your driver parks in our basement parking and collects you from our lobby area, this will be the safest option as it avoids one from crossing a busy road.

Once again I would like to apologize for your stay not meeting your expectations and we will certainly work on improving all your concerns, thank you once more for selecting the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel as your hotel of choice and we really hope that you will give us another chance in the near future,

My Husband and I spent a night there, traveled from Zambia for the Eminem Concert. The Location was so perfect. Right next to the Gautrain Train station and Sandton Mall. everthing was made so easy for our stay. very convenient and very comfy rooms. The staff are so helpful, made calls to confirm my reservation and they were so helpful and my call was as short as possible. definitely will book ourselves in this very Hotel. The only minus was the internet / Wifi in our room was so slow. but we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Corner suites are like window sits on a plane. (larger)

I have stayed at the Radisson Blu Gautrain on more than one occasion. I have always enjoyed my stay at this fine hotel.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is great. As a woman travelling on her own in Africa, I feel completely at ease and relaxed.
I am looking forward to returning this week.
