We stayed here for one night during a long layover between travel from Cape Town to Kruger. The hotel is very nice and conveniently located with direct access to a shopping mall. Hotel bar and restaurant for breakfast buffet were nice with good service. Room was clean and very comfortable. We were originally given a room overlooking Mandela Square but it was a bit noisy so we switched to a room with a city view. Since we only had one night, we didn't have much time to explore the city, so it was nice to be at this hotel which was close to the square and shopping.

Great luxury hotel that is a haven of peace and safety in a busy city.

Welcome was good with drinks provided on arrival, the lifts in the lobby and through the hotel show off the luxurious interior. The rooms were ok - slightly functional rather than the splendour the building could suggest. Breakfast was great and the bar was good. We didn't have time to use the spa or eat in the restaurant as we were on a flying visit.

Location is great if you want to shop In sandton mall and also very easy to get to by the Gautrain from the airport - so fantastic for first time visitors to Johannesburg as an intro to help get their bearings.

Overall, great luxurious base, slightly business orientated rather than holiday, but then I guess that is the majority of visitors to Johannesburg who are there more than just as a stepping stone to he rest of South Africa. Would definitely return.

My husband needed to see a doctor during our stay. The concierge was wonderful. A doctor called us back within 5 minutes and came to our room within an hour with all the meds my husband needed based on our phone conversation. The Hotel was elegant and the Restaurant was outstanding!

My husband and
I recently spent 5 days here. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Gorgeous bathroom. All the employees were attentive, professional and friendly. The breakfasts are excellent, and the close proximity to restaurants, bars and the Sandton shopping plaza is too convenient! I loved the view from my balcony over Mandela Square with its statue of the great man. Would definitely stay here again. I didn't have a chance to sample the spa but I'm sure it would live up to the rest of the hotel.

Room Tip: Try and get a rom with a balcony over Mandela Square.

While the hotel location, decor & facilities where of highest quality, what really made this business stay a memorable experience was the very friendliness and willing to have a talk nature of all the the staff. It just felt that that you were surrounded by friends and not 10,000km from home in a hotel never visited before. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. The only difference would be rooms with a view particularly overlooking Man...

i`m staying at the Michelangelo at the recommendation of a workmate who has stayed here before. I was keen on experiencing how staying in a hotel within the proximity of a busy business district would feel like and the experience has been rich and intense. Room 2010 overlooks the foodcourt yard cum entrance to Sandton`s shopping mall and every evening has been a breathe of fresh air walking up and down people within the mall and its environs

If anyone is reading this from the management, kindly change the hotel`s policy and provide FREE internet like other hotels with the same day rate for a 5 star hotel- example -Peermont Dorieale where ive previously stayed on similar visits

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are stationed on the lower floors; I stayed in room 2010 which overlooks the entran...

This was my first trip to South Africa and I was invited out by a work colleague to enjoy a typical South African fine dining experience. As the trip coincided with my birthday, the colleague asked the staff in the restaurant to present her birthday gift to me and welcome me to SA. I was delighted and surprised by the effort they made in the presentation of the gift and the very warm welcome they extended to me. It certainly got my South African trip off to an exciting start! Between the amazing food and the outstanding service, I would most certainly make a point of returning to this restaurant on my next visit!
