Fantastic stay!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Nov 2017
The atmosphere here is worth it's weight in gold, everyone is so friendly and helpful. Ex works so hard and is always on hand if you need anything during the night. The young girl who took us on an all day bike tour was amazing, great fun and such an ambassador for Soweto. The breakfast needs the quantity to be bigger, the portions in the cooked breakfast were stingy (still delicious though) and coffee needs to be provided pretty early on and whether there is one guest or more. The dinners were awesome!

Being on the tour with Chico as a guide, and having the chance to meet Sowetan's and learn about life in Soweto was a privilege. We have just started our trip but this will be one of the most memorable days. Chico not only offers a wealth of information, but also presents this information in a way that is entertaining and heartfelt. Enormous thank u to Chico & Lebo's for making this experience possible!

We really enjoyed our stay and the walking tour with our guide Jacob. He was a very good guide. The place itself is very nicely decorated and has a very special atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this experience.

We went on the 4 hour bike tour and it didn’t disappoint. We saw every aspect of the town and we were fully informed throughout. Our hide Jacob was an expert on the town itself and was very honest about its roots. We stopped twice to taste some local food, once at his grandmas house!

This hostels operation is well put together and organised/executed with a smile. We got Uber’s from the city to here for £16 each way and we’re glad we did. Fuss free tour day out.

Thank you to the Lebo hostel for welcoming us.

This was an absolutely amazing place to stay. The bike tour is a MUST DO! Being located in a township, you get immersed in the culture and have tons of interactions with the locals! The last Thursday of every month, the hostel organizes "storytime" where a locals come and provide their perspective on a variety of topics. It's truly an amazing educational opportunity to be a part of. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only downside is that there aren't that many wall plugs in the room to charge phones. I would definitely stay here again.

I enjoyed story telling evening which I combined with overnight stay - telling stories around the fire is an African tradition that connected communities and a place of learning and exchanging ideas. The story telling was also combined with book launch, the stories of the three women - all in business was the face of empowered African women that are sometimes overlooked when Africa is presented as a continent 'in need'
