Yossi’s is one of my favourite restaurants along the row of street cafés that line Helen Joseph Road in Glenwood, Durban. Located in a restored house, the décor is a blend of bright mosaic, cushions, couches and Persian rugs that spill out onto the pavement with live jazz music on Wednesday nights. You can sit inside or outside on the balcony at a table or on a couch and watch the street vibe as you enjoy your meal. The food is a mixture of Moroccan, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes. My favourite vegetarian dish is called The Sultan Fainted! After your meal, be sure to try their house special Turkish Tiger shooter, which is a condensed milk based nightcap. Yossi’s is open Tuesdays to Sundays till late.
