We stayed at the palace first time and id say the hotel, room, staff were all excellent. The rooms were very nice done up recently, comfortable, spacious and the kitchen was well stocked. The views from the top floors are spectacular. In the lobby by the lift bit of a stink not sure why no ventilalation of any sort. We paid for parking undercover but there seemed to be not enough parking space. The activity guide for the kids said a few activities scheduled but when we get to the fifth floor they not ready for the kids the excuse being its only two or three kids and its off peak etc so we unable to do the activities and they didnt get the necessary things to do the crafts.dont advertise it in the activty guide if you cant keep upto your word as the kids looking forward to doing something we've been to many resorts and this is the first time we heard such a feeble excuse. The kids were quite bored and limited activity for them besides the coloring books

Room Tip: High floor good view

This will be my last time I will stay at this resort. It supposed to be renovated but the televisions does not work. The 4 sleeper rooms are very cramped and no space to walk in the room. Had to wait 30min for a porter to help carry our luggage from the car to our room. Eventually I carried myself. Unfriendly staff. Overall dont recommend this hotel to any family or friends.

Great service at the front desk, and an excellent location, right on Durban's golden mile. The suites are great and completely equipped for self-catering.

I wouldn't bother with the spa the next time around - not very relaxing when you can hear the bingo game while you're having your massage.

The units have been redone - and the master shower was so well sealed that it smelled a little musty. Easy to remedy by propping the door open.

We're staying here for the first week of October, and it's been a week of pleasant surprises. The beach and Durban's revamped promenade are the star attractions, and the Palace is perfectly located to make the most of everything the beachfront has to offer - within easy walking distance. Views from our 12th floor flat are compelling day and night, as is the sound of the ocean. The flat itself is clean, comfortable and well equipped (the hotel is currently renovating and work hadn't reached the 12th floor yet so we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy those benefits). The Palace has a nice onsite restaurant, 'Pesto' which offers fairly standard but tasty fare (toasted sandwiches, breakfasts, pizzas, burgers, steaks and seafood platters) at decent prices - we can particularly recommend the seafood platter. No trip to Durban is complete without a curry, and there are three Indian eateries within about 200m offering a good and well priced selection of spicy dishes. We'd be happy to make the Palace our base for future Durban holidays and are hoping to return early next year.

Room Tip: Chose a room on a floor where renovations are complete.

My boyfriend and I had the most amazing time at the Palace! My review is a little late as we did visit them last year. We had been to other hotels and chalets since, but we cannot get The Palace and their amazing Spa out of our heads. We even stayed at the Gateway Hotel in December but we drove to The Palace for spa treatments. We loved the treatments, the rooms, the close proximity to everything and the atmosphere. We had perfect weather and were treated amazingly by wonderful staff who even remembered us when we returned in December! Definitely a place i would go back to

Room Tip: Choose one of the already newly completed rooms. i believe they were renovating
