Thank you for the amazing feedback and we are so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. The weather this season has been fantastic and trust you had many sunny days on the beach.
May 2013 be an inspirational year for you and we look forward to welcome you back.
The check- In process was very slow, but the room conditions were excellent and value for the money though the furniture is getting old, but for a 3 star hotel, its excellent. I will definately go back there again for vacation. The atmosphere was lovely and the hotel was very neat and clean. The surroundings are now safe thanks to the police visibility everywhere. I felt safe
Dear Hlalo G,
Thank you for the wonderful feedback received. We are so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay at Garden Court Marine Parade. We hope that you and your loved ones had a great festive season and we wish yoy all the best for 2013.
Marine Parade is a lovely hotel. The foyer looks stunning, check in very smooth and staff are always smiling. A lovely gesture was a kids pack for the lil one and some chocs for the wife. The view from the room is stunning, though the finishes are really dull. the carpets and furniture is bland and boring.... the bathroom is nothing stunning either. Worse part is the window frame are old and need replacing, We were on the 25th floor and the wind noise that comes through is terrible.... Please Tsogosun and Garden Court - refurbish and upgrade this classic hotel urgently.......
on a positive the breakfast is a winner.... staff friendly, food good wide variety, from scrumptous pancakes to fresh fruit, really loved the breakfast.,
Dear Mr MJO,
Thank you for the positive feedback received. We will keep you updated on any upgrades or changes to the hotel in the coming months.
Have a brilliant festive season and a very happy 2013.
Stayed here from 27 oct for a week. Still amazing. Tv's in rooms have now been updated to 32" samsung which was a suprise. Breakfast variety even better than the last time. Hotel is well looked after. everything about the stay was just perfect. Cant wait to return again soon.
Thank you for so much for providing us with feedback on your recent stay at Garden Court Marine Parade. We are glad you have noticed the changes and delighted that you had an enjoyable stay. We look forward to seeing you soon and wish you and your loved ones a great festive season.
We'd been recommended to the Garden Court by a customer of ours.
On arrival to the hotel we were very politely greeted by the porter with bags wheeled from the Taxi in record time. On trying to check-in we were told that our two rooms were not ready whilst we were a little early it was still lunch time, the very polite receptionist said that she would call us.
Having just arrived from the airport we were tired and hungry, unfortunately the bar / cafe & restaurant were all closed and not opening for an hour.
We were advised to get some food at a place called "Joe Cools" which would be open, eventually in the rain we found Joe Cools which was open but in the midst of a big redecoration. Due to the rain (tropical rain) we decided to eat there and return to the hotel after lunch and when it wasn't raining.
We duly returned to the hotel to find that the rooms were still not ready 2.30pm now and were invited to wait in reception. Approx 30 minutes later the rooms were ready and we were taken to them with our bags.
The entire hotel looks dated, which sometimes can work but in the Garden Court it just looks neglected. The hotel lobby is functional but more 2 Star.
The walk to the room was along old and tired carpets and again the access to the room via a door which rattled as opened and closed (with gaps under the door), entry to the room showed a standard but basic room set-up. The immediate eye catch is the view from the window, as all rooms have a sea view that is a positive attribute. Although the windows themselves are single pane and you receive all the noise from the beach front, including the whining and rumble from the cable car across the road.
The room itself is very dated, the carpet was dirty and badly marked. The lounge chair in the room was marked and virtually threadbare. The bed looked clean as did the pillows but there was a pungent smell of smoke in the non-smoking room.
The room had a flat screen TV although I didn't turn it on, the desk / sideboard were all old and dated and I had to unplug a light to find a socket.
The bathroom - OLD and dirty, with a fixed shower over bath.
During this time, my colleague had also reviewed his room and was not happy. As frequent travellers whilst we are used to a mix of hotels, we generally expect clean and maintained.
We decided to look for another hotel, a quick google using the hotel wireless (you need to pay but at least it was working - Skyrove accounts work) and we called up the Hilton. The Hilton whilst more expensive agreed to provide a special deal and we decided to take the hit and move to another hotel that day.
We duly wheeled our bags back to reception and went to check-out, surprisingly the hotel offered to refund us immediately which I think was an excellent response to our concerns. There was no arguing except our poor porter looked depressed we were leaving.
I would describe it as a kind of hotel good for stag nights, a room and a bed. But I did not find the hotel relaxing at all and did not want to stay there any longer.
This hotel is located right on the waterfront in Durban, with wonderful views and great amenities. The breakfast buffet is fabulous, they also serve a dinner buffet but we didn't partake. Great walks along the promenade, for bars, restaurants entertainment etc. We had a standard room which was perfectly comfortable.
