I spent two nights at this hotel on business at end August and found it to be a typical Hilton Hotel, breakfast was excellent, staff was good even though check in was a bit slow.
Overall good service - will recommend to travellers,

Stayed here for 3 days in early August.

The hotel was busy with a 'godly' convention going on in the adjacent ICC, but other than more than the usual number of dog collars in the Executive Lounge it didn't feel busy ... until check-out, and that could have tried the patience of a saint! More of that later.

Hotel location is good, adjacent the ICC, walking distance to downtown shopping, the harbour front and the beach area - and all felt safe during daylight hours. At night, use a taxi. Was in a standard double room, impressed by size of room and bathroom. Bed was comfy, lots of desk space, air con, lighting and sound-proofing good even when on a low-floor room, enough closet space and seating space. The usual high spec TV, tea and coffee and nice choccies on turndown! Liked the freebie fruit, nut and dried meat plate which made up for the no free upgrade. Internet was free for me as part of loyalty programme so didn't check what it cost otherwise. Decor is a bit 'seaside' but didn't seem dated and created a light and bright room.

Hotel has a few restaurant choices but as the convention was on were too busy for my liking and preferred to eat out. Had room service one night and prices were very reasonable, portions good and more importantly the food was tasty! Used the Executive Lounge for breakfast and at other times of the day - good service, nice choice of drinks and snacks (esp afternoon tea cakes!) and a lovely view and outside patio area on this high-floor lounge.

Staff I came across were helpful and seemed genuine, only one grump on the Exec Lounge desk but the other 2 ladies in charge there more than made up for that. Hotel was also helpful in sorting transfers out and reccos for tours (though the tours were hardly competitively priced - go to the tour desk in the ICC and you can pick up pretty much the same tours for half the price although perhaps not with as much class as the ones they reccomend),

Gym was OK - enough to workout but was expecting a better facility from a big and business-oriented hotel. Pool was outdoors and freezing and not much more than a paddling pool (but in fairness the sea is only a 10 minute walk!).

Check-out was a doddle for me in the Lounge but was a scrum at the main desk as all the world's ministers of faith seemed to be leaving en masse. That meant my pre-booked transfer firm (via Hilton) was busy and running late - 30 minutes hanging around and then the bell boys kicked into action when I said tell you what forget your transfer I will just get a cab instead - surprise, surprise, my car then appears! Should have been bolshy earlier on but didn't seem right with all the bishops around.

So, all in all, good hotel, a notch above middle of the road Hiltons but not in the top league of Hiltons, made for a pleasant and enjoyable stay. A bit slow on departure that's it. Would use again if in Durban and would recommend it for business and leisure.

This hotel is really amazing for the travelling business person, its slightly away from the beachfront's hassle and the city centre. Though it's designed with the business traveller in mind, it gracefully incorporates and embraces the family just as diligently. Its a stone throw's from the Durban Convention Centre. When you drive into the concrete street that leads you to the hotel, you get the feeling of being isolated from everything that is intrusive and stressful.

You can walk to the Marine Parade beach front, and you are not far away from the taxi ranks where you can embrace and mix with with the traditional Zulu markets. The
Workshop is also a street down, where you can find all sorts of interesting things including curio shops etc.

If you have a minute, order Lamb Curry at the Lobby Restaurant and if you know anything about curries, you will be very pleased!!

I have stayed at this hotel previously and found it to be more than comfortable, but most importantly a safe walk away from the Durban International Conference Centre, where I was attending a conference. Our company also hosted a presentation and cocktail evening at the hotel. The staff went out of their way to ensure that every detail we required was covered and there was always ample staff on hand to attend to us. The rooms were well equipped and views of the city and stadium from floors 10 and above were breath-taking!

Room Tip: For the best views ask for rooms from floor 10 and above

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback, and we are pleased to hear you appreciated our well equipped and comfortable rooms, with its breathtaking views of the City Centre. Yes the hotel is at a prime location and hence making the ICC very accessible. We will draw great encouragement from your kind words and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the very near future.

Once again the Hilton excels at pretty mch everything!
From the flawless check-in to the fresh and relaxing rooms, this hotel offers the ideal and best Durban address. A spacious lobby and welcoming staff are the best first impression. We travel a great deal and have met some brilliant staff but Evan at the front desk is head and shoulders above many five star hotel managers! Will definately be back - next month in fact
