I stayed three , refurbising underway , wil be nice when finished but inconvenient . The staff were very understanding and helpful . The location is ok . The room was ok but tired . The breakfast was good , wait before going .

This is probably the hotel that I've stayed at the most when I'm in Durban. The standard is always consistent and the staff are always friendly. Look out for the door man with his extravagant jacket full of badges :)

The hotel is currently going through a refurb and I really do hope that it will keep this hotel current.

I know it's a 5 star but somehow it feels like it is slightly under 5 at this stage.

All the best to the team and management on the new look.

I stayed here from the 18th to the 21 April 2014. The location of the Hotel does not make it ideal for leisure. The renovations in the lobby were also unwelcome during this peak period. We also had a problem with getting towels in the evening and after 5 phone calls we finally received them. That was after we already used hand towels to wipe ourselves dry. The room furniture desperately needs upgrade and mostly the bathrooms. The bathroom taps were falling off and loose in our room. The buffet breakfast could also do with a revamp as it is certainly not 5 star. Overall i would love to see what the total upgrade proves to be.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room. Level 4 is usually the best

Refurbishing is a must but it measures should be put into place to enlighten guest about temporary arrangements. Coming up from the basement to reception there was no signage to show where the temporary reception area was.

Pay for parking & internet, far from beach road. The hotel is expensive and for everything extra they charge unrealistic amounts. R65 for water? The location and access is quite a distance from the beach front. Breakfast was very very good though.

Got out the shower on our 3rd night at the Hilton Durban to find no towels had been replaced. Assuming a simple phone call would be all to correct the mistake and bring us the much needed towels was actually the mistake. 5 frustrated phone calls later and 45 mins of waiting for a blocked drain and towels to be replaced still did not result in anyone actioning things. The manager on duty (please note when he did come through, his card states 'Security Manager', which is a bit odd, don't you think) was apparently not around when I requested to be put through on my 6th phonecall.

We are due to attend the Easter church service at 5am tmrw morning. It is now 10:28pm and we are only now having things resolved, after we planned to have an early night to facilitate a 4am wake up call. So, not only did the Hilton not live up to its 5 star promises but it also inconvenienced and disappointed us terribly !

Won't be coming back here any time soon. If this is how they treat customers on an Easter weekend which is when I'm assuming you have your best staff on rotation, then what is it like when not. Now I know why they are the only hotel that still had availability last week and at such a good rate !

The hotel is located in downtown Durban. Across the street from the ICC. They had major renovations in the lobby and around the elevators during our 8 nights stay but we knew about it from the booking site so we were not taken by surprise. We booked 2 rooms, one was a deluxe king and the other was a guest room. Other than the extra seating area,both rooms were not much different. Furniture and rooms in general were in desperate need for renovations, paint etc... Staff were pleasant and willing to help with any inquiry except the gentleman in the front desk who was engaged on his computer most of the time and not interested. Fennely at the reception was very kind and helpful whenever we needed any information. Breakfast was good.Goodness at breakfast was very kind and met us every morning with her pleasant smile and cheerfulness. Door man with a Jacket full of pins was very kind, helpful and welcomed us every time we returned.Swimming pool was a bit small,the seating area around it was very limited in terms of space and you need to go through the restaurant in order to reach the pool. Use of the hotel TAXI was recommended to us for safety reasons and to avoid paying more than what you should be paying. We learned that the hard way! Overall stay was average. Special thank you to Fennely and Goodness for their kindness and hospitality.
