“Good Durban Curry”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

We took visitors from overseas for a curry. We ordered many items off the menu.I had the mutton curry which was delicious. The others ate various dishes which ranged from tasty to average. The service was attentive and prompt but a bit annoyed that the kitchen closed at 9.00pm, so no time for desserts or coffee.
Ambiance was a bit lacking as there were not many people there and no background music.

Reviewed 23 August 2013

Coming form Australia, I couldn't wait to have a real Durban Curry and had it here OMG it was divine we went back 3 times for more, had the chicken too many bones not as good as the Mutton, the chilli crab was delicious , as was the chicken and prawn.... Roti a must with the curries. It was always always busy and the staff work really hard look after the customers. A genuine Durban Icon................ And a must for all visitors

“Reminds me of times gone past - fun place to visit”
Reviewed 4 July 2013

Very friendly staff serve up terrific curries and bunny chows - freshly cooked, so relax and enjoy a cold beer or two while your food is being conjured up in the kitchen. The menu has a variety of lovely dishes, including great prawn curries. The main bar area is definitely an interesting hang out. This is well worth visiting - I do on nearly every visit to Durban. It is bustling in a fun way.

“Real Durban”
Reviewed 31 March 2013 via mobile

Anyone looking for the real Durban Indian food experience won't go wrong by visiting this bustling hotel. Extensive menu that evenvcaters for the non-curry seeker :). Highly recommend the kebab bunny and chops chutney. Even the tripe and gram dhall for the more adventurous. Service is not the greatest and it can get really busy during lunch as the locals love this place. Prepare to be patient. The food is rewarding enough.

“Durban curries buffet-style”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

Venue somewhat out of the way (Ancient hotel on Umgeni Road), but Saturday nights provide a wonderfully unpricey curry buffet, including prawn( my favourite, in a biting tomato base), mutton, fish, chicken, bean, tripe and sundry others, supported by authentic samoosas and fish cakes starters, supplemented with other tasty chicken and vegetarian Indian dishes, and dessert offerings to follow. Great value and a happy way to enjoy local Indian cuisine!
