“Not Wheelchair Friendly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

Restaurant is ok. Service is slow. Food is not much to talk about. To me just too many waiters around for a medium size restaurant. But it will do. Not many animals around. And NOT wheelchair friendly at all. I was there when i was a kid now that was a good place. But i think times have changed.

“nice family garden near our house”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

This is a nice garden with a restaurant and a small zoo for kids.
try to avoid Sundays as it is very crowded. the food at the Blue Zoo restaurant is very reasonable with a pianist playing and special activities for the kids.

“Olde Durban laid back scene”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

The food is good, but not great at the Blue Zoo Cafe. However, when in Durban, you have to at least have some tea and scones there, or maybe a late and lazy breakfast: out in the open, plenty of place for the kids to run around, beautiful flora, and for a few Rands, you can go in and explore the fauna - including some very old tortoises - in the zoo. Adventurous little kids may even get to ride on the larger tortoise. Brin a bat and ball, or join in a cricket game with local Indian families. A nice play area - including swings, slides and jungle gyms for the jids under 12. A very pleasant few hours. Across the road is a Vida cafe for some really good coffee too. Then down the road, you can stop off at the Cube for a great view of Durban city and sea (including Moses Mabidha). Across the other road is the Jameson Rose gardens. And if you are into tennis, brin R50 and some rackets for an hours' game.

Lovely way to spend the day outdoors.Enjoy beautiful trees and greenery or take a walk through the small scale "zoo". Swings and slides available for kids as well as table and chairs and a small restaurant.
