The room was spacious and had a comfortable bed. Great shower. Wifi in the lobby was fast. An excellent cultural experience with Zulu dancers. Tasty meals. Gracious staff which made us feel special. The bar does not know how to make a Bloody Mary, but you can't have everything!

Our stay at this hotel exceeded all expectations. The hotel is situated in a small, dusty town and is an absolute oasis. It is an old-style hotel set in large tropical gardens abounding with birdlife. Staff are friendly and efficient. Public rooms interesting and well-designed. Bedrooms tastefully decorated, very functional and spacious. Good beds. We found the food was the best we had on holiday. Staff were able to advise on all activities in the area. We visited Mkuze game reserve which was one of the highlights of our trip, visiting numerous game parks including Kruger and Imfolozi, and St. Lucia. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this property, and wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: As far as we could see, all rooms are well-placed.

My wife and I travel through Swaziland from Umdloti to Ngwenya Lodge just outside the Kruger Park every year for our 2 weeks time-share and decided to break the journey and spend a night at this establishment. Our welcome was very good and checking in was a breeze after quite a long trip from Kruger Park Lodge. The room was very comfortable, well appointed but we had a leaking shower as well as a loose tile in the passage.
We had a pre-dinner drink at the bar which is really quite warm and friendly and well appointed.
Our real disappointment was the "buffet dinner" (no option) which is priced at R200/pp which, to my mind, is expensive to start with but then to insult the patrons with a very poor choice of fare is a disgrace. The choice of meats were overdone beef and very dry chicken. The veggies were whole roast baby potatoes, carrots and whole boiled green beans! The sweet selection escapes my memory but was also extremely limited.
In their favour is the fact that when we complained about the quality - or lack thereof - of the meal and the price chrged for this, the manager acknowledged this and offered to not charge us. I, however, felt that, as we had eaten, it would be more appropriate and fair for us to rather pay for one meal which is what we did.
What a pity as this is really a delightful spot with a lovely situation and set in beautiful gardens and even offers a walk down to the jetty where one can sit and enjoy a sundowner with a lovely view down the river and mountains in the background.
Deseves more than a 3-star rating but definitely not a 4-star.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with its own entrance and private garden and access to the gardens and river walk.

Dear Sir,
Thank your for your review which on the whole was very complimentary. We apologise again for your dinner. You should have been informed that we have an a la carte menu available every evening for guests who don't feel like our buffet. You also wrote your concerns in our guest comment book. Our staff were reminded immediately that they should offer an a la carte option to our guests and the quality issues were discussed with the Chef. I'm happy to hear that Nathi, our duty manager offered to remove the charges for your meal as our guests' happiness is most important to us.
We hope that you will stay with us again when travelling through to Kruger.
Best wishes, Craig

My husband and I stayed here for only 1 night on the way to Rocktail Bay from Fugitive's Drift Lodge and when we arrived were disappointed we weren't going to be there longer. A return visit will be planned for the future as the activities they offer are diverse and sound exciting for all tastes. The back of the hotel is set facing Ghost Mountain in beautiful grounds with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms offer all you would need with the added bonus of your own private outside terrace with chairs and a table. The restaurant offers good quality food either buffet style or à la carte.
Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and not overlooked by the rooms either side so no extra tips are needed.

One of the biggest challenges that I find in hotels, as a traveller and a team conflict resolution consultant, is the quality and selection of pillows.

In some hotels it is impossible to get a good night's sleep before taking on all of the angst of a team in conflict. Well the Ghost Mountain Inn (GMI) beds and pillows are really comfortable! The rooms are great - particularly the garden rooms and the honeymoon suite!

The food was great with an incredible buffet - the pastry chef's offerings stood out. SImply awesome.

Al though there was a brief hiccup with our booking, the ability of GMI to negotiate a better deal with our international clients was awesome. I really enjoyed that.

GMI was not listed on our Garmin - but have no fears, simply follow the GPS to Mkuze and turn into town, cross the railway line and go left - and voila! The hotel runs boat cruises on Josini dame, tours of an African village and trips into Mkuze Game reserve for game viewing.

It is a great stop over in Northern Zululand. Try it - you will definitely enjoy it!
