An absolutely. top quality B&B. The very friendly welcome, the helpful local guidance, the small thoughtful touches are all brilliant but the overriding aspect is the quality of the accommodation itself with balconies directly onto the pool.

Room Tip: The 3 we stayed in were all individual but all great.

Dear Jane

Thanks for taking the time to write a review on Anchor's Rest. I must apologise for my delayed response as I thought I had responded to your review. The gremlins must have crept into the system as my response isn't showing ... or I had finger trouble and didn't press the right keys - sorry, probably my error!

It's great that you enjoyed your stay with us as well as our breakfast feast. You are quite right, there are changes afoot to modernise the bathroom of the Blue Crane Suite. We are going to be doing some remodelling in a few month's time and look forward to being able to show the changes on our website, as well as on TripAdvisor.

Warm regards
Cilla, Peter and Sandy

We stopped for one night on our way to Amakhosi Lodge Game Reserve.
We were met by Sandy (the Manager) and given a great welcome with information about the B & B itself and the surrounding area. Our room although the smallest in the B & B was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good too, with plenty of choice.
All in all, a very good and convenient place to stay. Nevertheless we probably would choose a bigger room next time and indeed spend a longer stay.

Dear Rex

Thank you for your review on Anchor's Rest, which we were so pleased to receive. Sandy is a great asset to our business and has been with us for many years. She is a mine of information about Umhlanga and other areas as she is a qualified tour guide as well.

You were indeed in our smallest room, which is going to be upgraded and made bigger in the next few months as we are undertaking an improvement project in the winter months. We hope that you will come back to Anchor's Rest for another visit - and a longer one next time. Then we will be able to show you the upgrades which will have taken place.

Kind regards
Cilla, Peter and Sandy

Myself and best friend had an absolute lovely time at Anchors Rest. The hosts were super friendly and provided us with delicious and filling breakfasts everyday.

We stayed in one of the garden rooms which was a good size and quite private. The aircon was in top working condition, thankfully.

The location is great, just simply walk around the bend and down the road. Granted, it is a steep walk back. We walked easily to the shops and restaurants. We even walked at night. We felt very safe. One always stays vigilant but we (2 young females) had no issues. We didn't feel the need to hire a car. We decided to use taxi services to get to and from the airport and Ushaka marine world.

Fabulous holiday. Cannot wait to go again. Umhlanga is the perfect beach holiday destination and we will definitely be going back to Anchors Rest.

Dear Sarah

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely and detailed review. It really warms our hearts when we read reviews like yours as you so enjoyed your time spent at Anchor’s Rest and in Umhlanga Rocks.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the advantage of our Guest House, which is our position, as you can walk to all facilities of Umhlanga with ease and it is perfectly safe to do so, as you have mentioned – even two young women can walk around and feel safe.

We are pleased that you enjoyed our wonderful breakfasts, which we do pride ourselves on as we try and cater for all tastes.

We so look forward to welcoming you back to Anchor’s Rest for another fun, filled holiday.

Kind regards

Had a lovely stay - both owner and staff were very friendly. I think the room we had was a little small but I think there are other large ones, Great facilities for guests and great breakfast. Good spot for staying to explore the area.

Dear Linda

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay at Anchor's Rest. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and our great breakfasts. We always say that a guest won't go hungry with the extensive breakfast menu which we have.

The room which you were booked into is our standard room and it is the smallest room which we have. We most certainly do have much bigger rooms which open onto a tranquil, tropical garden or overlook the pool deck with a view out to the ocean. So we hope that you will return to our wonderfully sunny shores to book another stay at Anchor's Rest so that you can experience one of our large, superior rooms.

We would love to welcome you back as one of our 'repeat guests'.

Warm regards

Having been touring for a month from Cape Town all along the coast and inland to Grahamstown one or two nights at each stop, what a pleasure to spend 8 nights with Peter and Cilla, wish they had availability for longer but although we booked in May they were already full from 20 Dec. We had the Strelitzia room, very private, wonderfully spacious and well equipped, great to have self catering facilities so as not to have to go out all the time. We know Umhlanga very well having been many times over many years, AR was in a great position, walking distance to everything - great when it's so busy and difficult to find parking. It was also very quiet, our hosts and Sandy added to the very pleasant experience, great breakfasts and well stocked honesty bar. Will definitely be returning to our new home in Umhlanga!

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Anchor's Rest and thank you for taking the time to write such a complimentary review. It was an absolute pleasure having you to stay.

It sounds like you had a wonderful trip before reaching us, we are most envious. It is so rewarding for us when our guests call Anchor's Rest their 'new home' or 'home from home' as then we know that we have met their expectations and hopefully exceeded them.

We are delighted you enjoyed our wonderful breakfasts and that you made use of the honesty bar as it is a great facility for guests.

We look forward to seeing you back at Anchor's Rest for another visit, hopefully not too far away. Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014.

Warm regards,
Cilla, Peter and Sandy
