I have been having my annual holiday for the past few years at Cabana Beach and the staff, service has always been acceptable.
I didn't take a holiday last year, however in the past two years service levels seem to have gone from acceptable to atrocious.
Here is what happened
The resort is a self catering resort and we were there with our one year old baby we call housekeeping to ask for an extra towel for the baby (When we bath her we use two bath towels) An hour later the extra towel arrives and we ask if we can ensure that this extra towel can be in the bathroom every day. We are told that it is not allowed except by permission from the duty manager as there could be an extra guest in the room ( understandable argument) I contact the duty manager to make the request. She says she will inform house keeping. The next day at baby's bath time there is no extra towel as needed. Call house keeping and they refuse to bring a towel without permission from the duty manager. I contact the duty manager who says she will arrange it. 2 hours later we were still waiting for the towel. I contact the duty manager who has now left and a towel was delivered. I did this dance for 4 days until the senior house keeping manager came to see me to find out why we needed an extra towel.
My middle child at this resort would be required to sleep in the lounge area of the room, it is easiest for us to take the mattress of the sleeper couch and put in our bedroom. Every morning housekeeping would put it back we spoke to the maid and asked her not put it back in the lounge but she did. I did this dance every day until the senior house keeping manager came to see me.
One of the toilets did not have a lock on the door. It took four days to get that fixed only when the senior house keeping manager came to see me did it get fixed
When we arrived there was no linen for the sleeper couch that took 2 hours and 6 calls to get sorted
Our room phone broke and it took three days to get it fixed. All of the adults in the room complained on the third day at half hour intervals. It was fortunate that the we has cell phones to call all our friends that were in the town as well. I once again spoke to the duty manager who said she would deal with it. A few hours later it was finally fixed.
As the resort is self catering we take a griller to cook some of food on. During the first week of our stay the cleaning staff would clean the griller, but during the second week they would not. We would have to ask then to clan the griller.
The kids pool was fair but i saw the staff putting chlorine into the pool in the middle of the day, when i asked why that was there was no answer forth coming.
Other than these issues which seemed to take from great beach time it was a nice enough, however i doubt i will going back in 2007
