“Light house beach”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

Salty times, sand kissed walk with your partner along the light house pathway. How romantic is that ;)I was in Umhlanga towards the end of SA winter. Durban was much warmer than Joburg, but to our surprise the sea breeze was freezing, and with vigour that you wish to have imitated. The beach sand is not the usual impeccable white , but the water is turquoise green. The sea is also studded with vessels that has seen many a shores. Umhlanga paints a perfect picture for a romantic getaway.....<3

Best place ever. People are friendly. Beautiful beachfront and walkway next to the beach. Great weather. Great Restaurants and Street Cafe's. Umhlanga has the biggest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere - Gateway. Highway run next to Gateway for easy access all around. Airport not far
from Umhlanga. Sibaya
Casino 7 km away from Umhlanga. Close to Sun Coast Casino and Durban, Durban beach and Waterfront.

“great seaside town”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

There is a stunning beach and great selection of bars and restaurants in the centre of town. The shopping complex nearby adds additional options too. The beach promenade provides an opportunity to enjoy more of the town and the stunning views.

“Marvelous in every aspect”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

My husband and I go to Umhlanga every year to utilize our timeshare at the Breakers Resort (see my review).

Umhlanga has over the years become a very high end, trendy and flashy town with vast expansion.

The town itself boasts a wide variety of excellent restaurants( Little Havana for great steaks, Ile Maurice for French- Mauritian (see my recent review), Bar Ba Coa for Argentinian flair) as well as good take away options.

I can highly recommend a visit to Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom not far from Umhlanga for an excellent meal at Aqua restaurant (see my review). A visit to uShaka SeaWorld is an absolute must.

Trendy, chic and upper market hotels, resorts and apartments line the shoreline and offers some of the most luxurious accommodation options (Oyster Box, Breakers Resort).

During peak season the traffic is hectic and parking is difficult to find. I can strongly suggest to make a booking at your choice of restaurant well in advance for the restaurants fill up very quickly.

For me the cherry on top of this marvelous town is the long and romantic strolls along the beach late afternoon.

We can't wait to return to Umhlanga later this year!
