Bushmans Nek Berg & Trout Resort

We enjoyed a lovely time at Bushmans Nek. We were two families who shared a very spacious 3 bedroom chalet. The weather was a bit grim, but they had an excellent entertainment programme for the kids. I do agree with another review stating the lack of heating in the apartments. However we found it most enjoyable to relax in the cosy lounge in front of the fireplace. Tea and Scones were served every morning - Tea/coffee was free and a nominal fee was charged for the scones. Late afternoon they served complimentary wine/juice and snacks, while they introduced the management team. Wi-Fi was provided in the lounge area. My husband, who is a keen fly fisherman, was disappointed in the fishing. Not much trout around. The staff deserves a special mention, as we found them extremely friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a nice supper in the restaurant. All in all, I would highly recommend this resort as a great family getaway.

This resort is set in a remote area that is very scenic .We had a room on the upper floor with a balcony overlooking the Drakensberg mountains and the swimming pool . The resort has a swimming pool with a little heated pool and a slide into a pool for the kids . Their is a tennis court , bowling pin , pool room , squash , badminton , volley ball , mountain bike hire . Their is a restaurant with inside and outside seating and breakfast , lunch and supper can be had on the premises .It also has self catering chalets . The chalet is very spacious with a fridge , stove with oven , microwave , cutlery and crockery , a little braai ,a jacuzzi , a shower , a tv with selected dst channels , a dressing table , a lounger and chairs with a large bed with clean linen and duvet and blankets , cupboards for your clothes . Chalets are serviced daily and clean towels are supplied .Their is hiking , walking , fishing and horse riding available in close proximity to the resort . Their is also a health spa available on the premises for which you have to book .The staff are friendly and helpful . Their is a breakage fee payable on booking in that is refundable when booking out as long as nothing is broken . The road to the resort is on a terrible gravel road that is about 30 kilometres long. So do not go there with your new car .

Room Tip: Choose a room that overlooks the pool and the mountains .

Brad and his team cannot do enough for you.
Set in the most beautiful area and surrounded by a photographer's dream landscape.
When driving to the resort from Underberg do NOT take the first signed turning. This road is terrible if you only have a car. The second turn-off is a much better road, and although a bit longer distance-wise it is quicker and much easier on the suspension.
The organised entertainment is a great way to meet fellow guests - all of whom were great fun. Unlike other places we have been with organised stuff you are not pressured in any way to join in, which makes it more relaxed.
Free tea and coffee is served on the sundeck every morning, with optional cakes to buy. After this all the staff do the Bushman's Nek dance which is great fun to join in with.
We had one of the 2-bed cabins which had all the facilities and utensils needed, including a nice braai area. The only downside was a very thin dividing wall with the next door cabin.
We did the 'waterfall walk' which felt like quite a trek in the blazing heat, but was well worth it.
We also enjoyed a massage in the spa which is very well set out and well away from all the hubbub in the main areas.
We cannot wait to return to this wonderful place.

We spent a weekend with 15 members of the family. My sister in law and her husband were out from Australia and we had a ball. Long leisurely walks, evenings in the pub followed by well cooked meals. Comfortable well appointed rustic log cabins so much well equipped. Stunning views of the mountains and so quiet and peaceful. The staff are all very friendly and are more than willing to go the extra mile to ensure that you get what you want. We were there self catering but did have dinner one night in the restaurant, considering the size of our group, they handled it very well and everyone got what they asked for and the food was good.

Only down fall would be the long gravel road, but not an issue if you have the right car.

Room Tip: Don't drive there if you have a low car and definitely not with low profile tyres.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Note there is a about 40km dirt road riding to get to the location but that didnt stop the little cars that came there. Accomodation is very comfortable and we stayed both at the chalets and the log cabin. Both being self-catering with adequately fitted kitchen. The log cabins have a splendid view but the chalets are larger in size. Be warned this place can get real cold depending on weather and season. Heaters are provided and the log cabins have a fireplace. The staff were friendly and assisting.
The attractions are nice and fall in line if u need to relax. The kids enjoyed the rock pools of which some were heated. Rent horses at the nearby animal farm and enjoy a stroll along the green country side. We didnt get to try the spa but I am sure its pretty good. This is the sort of place u want to retreat to get away from it all and just relax.

I have just returned home after spending a week at this wonderful resort. The staff were all friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. We stayed in a two bedroom self catering unit that was fully equipped and very comfortable and clean. Tea and scones were served everyday on the patio overlooking a beautiful swimming pool. We had lunch In the restaurant the one day and it is highly recommended.
It is a place you go to relax but whe you feel like some activity there is lots to do. Hiking, swimming in the pool or river nearby, horse riding, bowls and mini golf.
Very children friendly, I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a unit in the front, then you have view of the stud farm in front and pool close by. We wer...

We swopped our Gold Crown time share for a two bedroomed cabin which was supposed to have a pull out couch in the bedroom which was not a pull out couch. We had to ask for two extra beds to be put in the lounge. I requested a wheel chair at the time of booking for my elderly disabled mother - was told they only had one that was broken -we had no option but to use the broken wheel chair as we were travelling from the U.K. The electric cable for the light fittings are totally illegal and an accident waiting to happen. The kitchen very sparsly fitted. No Trout for two very experienced trout fishermen - We had to contact Brad on our return to the U.K. to get our deposit returned. If it were not for Brad the Manager who was so very polite and pleasant we would not have stayed the full week.

Room Tip: Can only report on the self catering cabins - dont go when it is cold and take plenty of cooking ute...
