What a wonderful little Retreat in this beautiful part of Wilderness on the Garden Route. Mike & Harja, you are outstanding Hosts and we loved the attention to detail in every respect. The Old Trading Post is a real asset in our lovely Wilderness area. I call your establishment - Food for the Soul. We will be back and recommend your B&B to all our friends and client visitors. The marvellous breakfast was the highlight Today. Well done to you both. Best wishes Doug & Lesley

We went on a long cross-country road trip from JoBurg to Cape Town with 4 kids, and our almost grumpy family lightened up upon as we stopped over this little haven in Wilderness.

We were booked in the Strelitzia cottage and the Tin room, which was ideal for a family such as ours, as it gave the younger kids some security to be in a cottage with us, and gave our older boys the privacy in the next room. The spacious rooms and luxurious bathrooms are just what we exhausted travellers needed. We were also near the brai area, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed.

This colonial B&B is also as charming as its hosts, Mike and Harja. Aside from a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, and assortment of fruits and cereals, they also treated us to a bit of the inn's history. (Now we know why it's called the Old Trading Post, you guys should write that down on your website. That was really interesting!)

The only thing we would change would be the coffee mugs. (we drink a lot of coffee, so we like 'em bigger). But overall, we love the place. We already recommended it to our relatives!

We pre booked for 4 nights but stayed for 7!!
It was a delight to stay at The Old Trading Post, but eventually managed to wrench ourselves away.
The accommodation was excellent, having sampled self catering, and the B+B on offer.
Breakfast was to die for, and Mike and Harja were the perfect hosts.

The "icing on the cake" for us was how friendly, welcoming and helpful our hosts were throughout our stay.
They seemed to achieve the ideal balance between keeping a respectful distance, but always available if needed.

Our extended stay was only possible by moving rooms-twice! BUT, Mike and Harja made this a very easy process for us, enabling us to extend our pre booked arrangement.

We were not in a hurry, and tended to linger over the most exceptional breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the front garden and its water feature. We are sure our hosts had plenty to be getting on with in the mornings, but not once did we sense any impatience, as we observed the abundance of bird life in the garden, as we enjoyed our breakfast!

We can not recommend The Old Trading Post more highly.

Finally, a mention of the time and effort put in on our final morning, before departure.
Expressing our uncertainty as to exactly where we should move on to, and at probably the busiest time of the day, our generous hosts went way over the call of duty, and helped us book accommodation ahead, at Storms River and Addo Elephant Park.
Both of these destinations were well worth staying at for the memorable experience.
We cannot thank Mike and Harja enough!

Hope to return one day!

Room Tip: Storms River and Addo Elephant Park well worth a visit, and recommend staying on site for the comple...

Mike and Harja were wonderful hosts. The Old Trading Post is off the main road that connects the Garden Route and it means it is quiet and very peaceful. Breakfast featured a show of birds flitting through the trees and a very nice meal. They went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable and got an idea of where to go for meals and attractions. Mike also showed family photos of Namibia, giving me some ideas for a future trip. While were weren't watching a lot of TV on the trip, they did have sattelite TV, which allowed us to watch the Super Bowl (at 3 AM).

Mike and Harja are warm and welcoming hosts and made us feel completely at home.
The garden is beautiful, and the small pool area is fantastic for relaxing on a hot day.
Breakfasts are beautifully cooked and served on the veranda, which looks out on the lovely garden. Lingering over a last cup of tea and watching the sunbirds bathe is a luxury to be recalled long after the holiday!
There are walking trails in the local forest, and fantastic swimming on the magnificent beach. Wilderness itself is small but charming. Lots to do! We stayed here for two nights, but wished we had stayed longer.
