The N62 drive to Cape Town is much nicer than the N2 drive on the Garden Route with a great coffee stop at ''Ronnies Sex Shop''

“Wonedrful Wilderness”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

Nestled between George and Kynsa in the Garden Route National Park, this hidden gem is aptly named Wilderness. I had never heard about this place before and it now counts as one of my favorite places on the Garden Route. It has plush green hills on the one side, azure blue Atlantic on the other side and a river even runs through it!

We stayed at Ebb and Flow Cabin Camp which must be one of Sanpark’s finest. It’s well-kept, clean and our cosy wooden cabin on stilts overlooked manicured gardens and these beautiful lush hills. The cabin also included our own kitchen, stocked with all the utensils, stove, fridge and braai facilities. It’s perfect for family getaways and its child friendly. At less than R350 per night, it was a bargain and money well spent.

Wilderness is a perfect place to simply be still and recharge. Perfect for lazy holidays where you may want to simply do nothing or pamper yourself in simple pleasures like reading your favorite books, leisure walks on the beach, pedaling your canoe down the sparkling and cool Touw’s River, riding your bicycle and my personal indulgence …long afternoon naps, a pleasure in this serene setting.

Wilderness is a bird watchers paradise. I am a bird novice and cannot name many but I simply loved listening to their varied sweet tweets, whistles, quarks, chitter-chatter and ever-so-often one or a couple would chirp and perch on our balcony!

The Haron Kingfisher hiking trail was my highlight – the hike is doable and oh so refreshing as most of the hike is canopy-shaded under the trees and the tropical plant foliage that make the wilds of Wilderness. The birds sing and cheer you on…what a blessing…we even spotted loeries on the way! The waterfalls at the end are the cherry on top, had thoughts of skinny dipping in the plunge pool but chickened out…perhaps next time!

“A life enriching experience”
Reviewed 28 April 2012 via mobile

Anyone who wishes to experience up close one of the most beautiful destinations in the world should go on this guided trail. They will have the privilege of being guided by a most erudite, passionate and informative guide, Mark Dixon, as they travel by foot and canoe through beach, dunes, river and forest. The accommodation is more than comfortable and the food prepared by Mark delicious and nourishing. It is quite tiring but very enriching. Every detail is taken care of by the professionalism of Mark and his charming wife, Amanda. Could be 5 of of the most rewarding days you ever spend!
