We passed through Wilderness to find a gem of a hotel. It had been closed for 3 years and been bought over by new owners. Not all the wings are open as the hotel is being renovated/refurbished. We stayed in a room which was spacious, clean and neat. It might not have all the stars, but certainly enjoyed a wonderful stay of two nights. Summer can only be beautiful, this hotel boasts with beautiful gardens and swimming pool!
Staff at Hotel are super, kind and polite with seriously excellent manner. A special thanks to Prof at our Breakfast table, he pulled out all the stops for us and was such a treat to speak to. To the Ladies in the kitchen who prepared the Breakfast.....FANTASTIC! A little note.....second morning we asked for only half portion as this is a serious plate of food which normal people cannot finish.
Thanks Prof! To all at the Wilderness Hotel, Keep up the good work there and we will return to your beautiful hotel hopefully in the Summer months.

My family and I visited in April 2014 ... wonderful trip, very central to what's going on; it is an older hotel, huge, needs visitors, new management doing well. Breakfast buffet style, good. Enjoyed our stay, so much so that we return for another visit next week. Another adventure for Jo'burgers, catching the train to Beaufort West in the Karoo, hiring a car and driving down to our rooms in the Wilderness Hotel.

Room Tip: For a family, we faced the green and the lagoon, had adjoining rooms, could walk outside in the front and visit each other on our individual porches. Other side, we could walk out into the passage which led into the hotel. Depending upon the weather, could enjoy both sides.

Were invited with the Wilderness Monitors to share in the knowledge of what the hotel is about since it was reopened, we were treated by very friendly employees. The breakfast was realy very ggod and was enjoyed by all. I beleive that the new owners are and will bring a great deal of pleasure for persons who would love a holiday or stop over. Very clean and neat

We attended a wedding at the hotel and subsequently spent the night. The hotel is located in the pretty village of Wilderness, situated in a beautiful setting. The wedding venue, catering and service were excellent. We found our room comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was a feast - and we particularly enjoyed their home-made naartjie marmalade. Staff in the restaurant and hotel are well-trained, friendly and helpful. When we saw the spa, pool and gym, we wished we could stay longer to enjoy the facilities. Outstanding value.

Thank you so much for your kind words about The Wilderness Hotel. The staff have been working hard since we reopened in March, and they'll be excited to read that their efforts have paid off. Pleased you enjoyed the marmalade, too!

Stayed here on the 25th of April 2014, a few weeks after reopening the hotel! Clean and neat, still a bit of cosmetic changes here and there that they are busy with, but staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we had a very enjoyable overnight experience! Glad it's open again!
