... that's about it. The hotel needs an urgent refurbishment and compared to the hotel next door the prices/value is outrageous! The room didn't smell nice, the bathroom had cracked tiles, people at reception had no clue, internet access (for which you pay a relatively high price to SA standards) is absolutely unreliable and was unavailable most of the time.
We found that the lift wasn't working most of the time, despite my partner being less able due to surgery, the staff couldn't care less! And the safety door that must remain closed for security reasons is either wide opened or securely locked, which didn't make us feel very safe.

I usually don't write very bad comments here on TA, but as we'd found this through TA and saw the excellent comments, I thought that somebody should write the truth about this dump.

Wilderness can not be described in any other way than...beautiful. We are from Cape Town and wanted a short family break. So we decided to visit Wilderness Beach Hotel. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean. The kids enjoyed the pool and beach. The Breakfast was a very good full English spread. There is also a separate restaurant "Patric’s" which had a nice Irish Pub feel.
All in all... a great family break!

I had an excellent time with my family this past week-end at The Wilderness Hotel-
What more could I ask for???Friendly staff, especially Mr Zander, so helpful, yet cheerful and friendly. The rooms are incredible large, the views are spectacular and service, oh, I COULD GO ON AND ON.You gotta see it to believe it.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea Facing suite.

We stayed here as a bit of a treat after staying at backpackers. This was certainly a treat! The rooms were big and although a little dated the hotel is clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great just don't forget to ask for sausages, bacon and beans as well!!

We stayed here for 2 nights in January 2011 when travelling the Garden Route. We had side by side rooms. Rooms were fine - clean and pretty spacious and both had amazing views. We had breakfast on both mornings and it was chaotic. Problems getting crockery, coffee etc but the food was ok. Had laundry done here too but we had to send it out to be done. Contrary to info on the website it doesn't have a laundry room. Breakfast was so chaotic we avoided dinner each evening - I hate buffet dinners anyway. We ate in the Wilderness Cafe on the 1st night which was an experience! Had a fantastic meal in Sails restaurant next door to the hotel on the 2nd night. Fantastic beach under the hotel but its not suitable for swimming. We walked for miles and then staggered up the steps back to the Irish bar. I'm Irish - and even I was taken aback by the tackiness and fake Oirishness of the bar. Why would you put an Irish bar in a location surrounded by fabulous sea, mountains and parks. We had the best day of our SA trip hiking in the National Park in Wilderness. Hiked up a trail, swam in a waterfall, ate a picnic looking up at a beautiful sky! What more could you want? Wilderness Village is charming and well worth a visit.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. Breakfast the first day was chaos...coach tours overwhelmed the staff. The hotel is ok-clean and comfy. Its a bit run down though, so not an ideal detsination. The adjacent spa was great though.

We stayed at Wilderness Beach hotel for one night at 23.2. 2010 in two adjacent rooms.
The room were airconditioned and spacious, the beds were width and really good. The rooms were at 4. floor and had beautiful side sea view. The rooms had no fridge, but there was easy facility to order ice. We ate there delicious buffet dinner. The room rate included excellent full breakfast. The service was good.
The beach was beautiful, but behind steep stairs. The hotel's swimming pool was big and beautiful. We were very pleased with the hotel.
