“Everything We Needed in Winderness”

Surprised to see the Dune ranked only number 13 B&B in WIlderness. In our view, it's way better than that. We had first tried to book one or two of the higher rated accommodations, but were unsuccessful in getting reservations. Next time, we'll just go direct to Dune. Our room, which was charged at a slight premium to that occupied by our friends, was excellent for our needs - specious, well equipped, with truly wonderful ocean view. The breakfast was extensive and enjoyable, and the hosting, while unobtrusive was good.

We stayed here with some friends and had a room overlooking the ocean. It was just heaven the manager and her husband were lovely and friendly and pointed us in the right direction for good food. The breakfast was one of the best we had and we were entertained by a pod of dolphins swimming past our balcony on the morning it was fab and we wished we had stayed longer.

Second time at the Dune and pleasantly surprised by some great additions and changes. Gary added a wonderful upstairs breakfast room with stunning views over the beach, and two new guest rooms which are both beautifully decorated. Most of the other rooms have been renovated and upgraded, too. Wilna, the new manager, is lovely and very helpful, and breakfast is as good as ever. No doubt the best place at the beach in Wilderness. Book early!

Room Tip: All rooms (except the Africa Room) are facing the ocean. The two new upstairs rooms are beautiful bu...

We arrived quite late in the evening - after 9 pm, but pleasantly welcomed by Wilna.

After having a late supper in the village, we arrived back to the room a bit of a surprise - having left the windows open, and it being a very hot summer evening - a large amount of mosquitoes and insects had snuck in - we were absolutely freaked out! But Wilna came down from her room and calmly did her best to sort it out. However, first thing in the morning, while we were still having breakfast, she arranged for the insects to be cleared out and everything was as good as new.

All in all - a very good start to our holiday on the Garden Route. The bed was so comfortable, breakfasts so tasty - and great viewpoint area in the dining room! Really, everything was just so enjoyable and well arranged - from the beach bag and beach towels provided to the amaazing coffees and pancakes at breakfast! We can't wait to be back :)

If going in summer though - keep the windows closed at night :)

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the rooms without a patio area, but it didn't matter at all since the pool d...

My husband and i are repeaters at the Dune. This time I went alone to escape from workload and needed a healthy week. They just finished a huge renovation so i was curious. The result is stunning! ALthough we never had any remarks, i was happily surprised with the nice changes. Beautiful new breakfast area with a view at the ocean. Every morning, I did not only enjoy the nice warm french bread, pancakes and fruits but also the stunning dolphins and whales in the waves. I stayed in the new beachroon which has a nice private deck at the dune, full of sunshine and a luxe bathroom. the last few days i stayed in the White Room which also had a new de luxe bathroom, new furniture and private deck. So I spend days watching the waves and doing sports at the beach. WIFI is free and very fast, But above all, I was happy that hospitality is still the same. Gary is a great host and very helpful finding restaurants for me, advising on bycicle hire, and local golfcourses. Changes are indeed nice but the most important is the atmosphere and that is unchanged: warm, easy and beachy!

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst in South Africa, the dunes overlooks a fabulous beach at Wilderness and is directly on the Indian Ocean. Our room opened onto a deck overlooking the beach And we had only to walk down a flight of steps to access the beach and the ocean. The owners live on the 2nd floor of the lodge, they were most welcoming and helpful. Parking is directly outside the lodge and it is only a couple of minutes into the centre of Wilderness.

Wilderness lives of the beach and the Dune Guest Lodge sits right above it - with direct access down the stairs. We stayed in the two leveled Beach Room with marvelous views over the beach and the rising full moon.

The lounge is very chilled with cool music all day. Breakfast is very good and Gary a helpful host. We loved the place but had two leave after only two nights.
