It was a wonderful lodge to stay at during our honeymoon. Wilderness is so beautiful and peaceful, which is ultimately what you want on a honeymoon. They leave you to your own devices and clean the room beautifully everyday as well as an excellent outdoor breakfast and free canoeing.

Definitely recommend it

Room Tip: definitely the top rooms. such a beautiful view

Had a fabulous 3 nights at Moontide. Wilderness is quite a quiet place, very unspoilt with very few shops so if you are looking for night life this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you want a gorgeous location with fabulous rooms, first class service, outstanding hospitality - this is it. The breakfast was delicious with unusual choices and is served on the terrace overlooking the lagoon when the weather permits. Our room, Moonshadow 2, had a beautiful terrace that caught the sun most of the day, a massive bedroom with seating area, a huge bathroom with candles provided if you want to relax in the bath, great shower and twin wash basins. There was a separate dressing room with fridge/honesty bar. Moontide has two canoes that you can borrow and take out on the lagoon and there is a lovely boardwalk on the opposite side if you fancy a stroll. The beach is long and when we were there in August almost completely empty. If you are going exploring, Wilderness is close to George and we drove up to Oudsthoorn, visited the Cango Caves, drove across the Swartsberg Pass to Prince Albert and back in a day. Tim and Maureen looked after us really well and were always there to give us advice and recommendations. Definitely recommend Moontide.

Room Tip: Look on the website as the rooms are so different to see what would suit you best. We loved Moodshad...

It was such a treat for my husband & I to escape to the Wilderness for a weekend.
From the minute we arrived at Moontide, we felt like VIP's.
The room was first class with great finishing touches, such as chocolates on the pillow, honesty bar, coffee & tea, down to all the shower gels, soaps & creams. A girl loves all of that.
The setting & view makes it impossible to feel any stress.
Breakfast was also delicious & top class.
It was also wonderful to have Tim share his knowledge of the area as well. We discovered so many gems along the garden route.
Thank you Tim & the friendly staff for making us feel like royalty.

It was a late winter afternoon, with reeds, gardens and homes reflecting tranquilly along the banks of the lagoon. We hadn't booked, but the welcome we received at Moontide was friendly and warm. We were delighted to be offered a double room right next to the boathouse! Tim told us about the house and area as we checked in, and recommended a pleasant restaurant close by for dinner. We took our luggage down to our room, and as we put the kettle on, first one and then a second beautiful cat arrived to check that we were ok -- we assured them that we had more than we needed. It would have been fun to test the new chiminera in the room, but the evening was balmy, warm even -- no fire needed.

Breakfast on the shaded deck this morning was sublime. We tucked into delicious fare as guests chattered relaxedly, a variety of birds dipped in and out of the overhanging trees, ducks paddled in the reeds, and the two cats and three dogs were in gentle attendance. We couldn't ask for anything more.

Awesome facilities, awesome service, awesome views.Great place to recharge the batteries - need definitely more than 2 nights here.Maureen (owner) has used her amazing interior decorating skills to tastefully and uniquely furnish each room. Staff members were more than willing to oblige with crazy requests eg. Jan (friend & handyman) allowed us to view all the rooms and was a wealth of knowledge on things local. Breakfast made even more special with a great view of the river, shared by cheese eating birds, lovable siamese cats and good natured dogs. All the above in addition to Tim (manager) who assisted with our difficult booking request.
Highly recommended guesthouse in a great part of the country.

Room Tip: We looked at all the rooms and anyone is as good as the next. Rooms designed to accommodate singles...

Our room had a very odd smell that we could not figure out all weekend - until, as we were packing our suitcases up we discovered the air freshener plugged into the wall. The smell was really strong and not to our liking, so I'd have to say it impacted my impression. I would definitely give this place another go and have recommended to friends. Lovely deck, good breakfast and Tim!

Tim was great - he made fantastic recommendations and really made sure that we got the most out of our time in Wilderness. (Side note - I had gone back and forth on whether or not to stay in Knysna or Wilderness - so glad I chose Wilderness much more charming than Knysna).

My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights there as we were looking for a quiet place to relax and recharge. It was wonderful. We stayed in the treehouse, treetops, and the view from our room was Spectacular. We even had the company of the 2 beautiful cats. Tim, the manager was very friendly and helpful, with providing information about what restaurants to go and try.
The breakfasts were very yummy and overlooking the lake while you ate was so peaceful and tranquil. we will definatley return again

Room Tip: Treetops - up in the tree and the view is special and very quiet
