“Beautiful views”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 via mobile

We loved our short stay at porcupine pie. They were extremely accommodating & helped us to have a comfortable stay whilst traveling with our baby. The views are incredible and the chalets and main laps area are both really comfortable. We spent an afternoon at the pool & walked from the guest house to a beautiful waterfall nearby. The location is excellent. John & Julie are lovely and their 2 dogs are pretty awesome too.

We have stayed at this little jewel in the Wilderness seven times now, returning year after year as the beauty of the location, peace, relaxation and warm welcome from John, Judy and the dogs can't be beaten. Just returned home to Scotland and we're already planning our next trip. We can't recommend Porcupine Pie highly enough - don't miss it!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in March - and we only wish that we had longer! The complete seclusion of this guesthouse is it's main pulling point, along with the unrivaled views and pure tranquility. The accommodation is well appointed and John and Judy are the perfect hosts. We will definitely be returning at some point!

Why this place hasn't got 5* I just don't understand! We stayed at the porcupine pie boutique lodge for 2 nights during a 3 week trip to south africa, how we wish we had booked longer! For us, this was the best place we stayed during our whole trip. The lodges are about a 15 min drive outside of wilderness up in the hills behind wilderness and what an amazing place it is. There are three individual lodges for people to stay in. The chalet was amazing, with a large (and very comfortable double bed) a living area, and an bathroom with a bath that looks over the view below. The terrace on the chalet was amazing with sweeping views of the surrounding hills and valley. Johns breakfasts were absolutely lovely, we unfortunately didn't get to sample his dinner as we were the only guests there during our stay, we didn't really want to put him out, though after sampling his breakfasts, next time we return I definitely want to try one of his evening meals! The walking trail that joins onto the trail in the national park to the waterfall was also lovely!
I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone, peaceful, luxury and with lovely hosts in John and Judy. We will be returning when next in SA.

Wonderful Honeymoon destination! Quiet, secluded and absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Tough Porcupine Pie is tucked away in the Wilderness Valley it's close to Wilderness Town and other activities.... You will have plenty to do and even a few ticks off the bucket list i'm sure! John and Judy will let you feel like you're part of their family and they spoiled us with great food. Thanks guys, it was fantastic!!

Porcupine Pie was part of our honeymoon roadtrip. And wow was I glad I had booked. The location is amazing and the views were breath taking. Our chalet was stunning with a kingsize bed, large bath and shower, mostly private balcony and amazing views that looked over the valley. John and Judy were amazing hosts with impeccable attention to detail and John's cooking was delicious to say the least. Storm and Panda (resident dogs) also kept us entertained. To top everything off, we had a lightning storm on two of the three nights we were there, which was spectacular. And a walk down to the waterfall and rock pool is highly recommended. Our stay definitely added to the amazement of the lovely country we live in :)
