We stayed with the whole family at Zimbali during Christmas. Lots of fun things to do at different pools for the kids. Food was devine. Staff was well organised and super friendly. We would advice anyone with kids to visit Zimbali. JP

Spent everyday at the pool at the Ayoba Beach Club Fairmont Zimbali. Fantastic cocktails, especially Strawberry Daqs. We had wonderful service from Lucas and the rest of the staff and an excellent lunch. Worth a visit.

The Zimbali Resort is located right on the beach, I had a room that overlooked the ocean and I could listen to the waves at night and feel the fresh air ... so relaxing! The room was very comfortable, the bath tub had a view out to the sea - a nice touch although being on the ground floor, a little risky!!
Meals at each of the restaurants both at the lodge and at the resort were all excellent.
I was without a car, but the hotel made it very simple for me to go wherever I wanted (a little pricey, but much appreciated). Local shopping centres were great.
There wasn't a lot to do - I was looking for a time away from everything so that was fine - and I was there in the cooler months of October. There was also a lot of maintenance going on around the building but it was unobtrusive so not really a problem.

What a fantastic welcome we received upon arrival. Maye was there to greet us and show us around the property. The views were spectacular! from there we settled into a nice lunch where we had wonderful food and service.
Once we were shown to our suite, the roll away bed was already there for our daughter, and we freshened up a bit. The next day by the pool was great sun fun and we relaxed under the trees. There was lots going on, even a dance competition that was fun to watch.

We were at the hotel over new years and our suite had a great view of the ocean where we watched at the hotel fireworks go off.
We sadly had to leave at 6:00 am to catch a flight and had arranged a car to the airport and for our luggage to be picked up at 5:45 Everyone was exactly on time and it was Fairmont service with a smile.

The hotel was clean, well maintained and the service was awesome. We even enjoyed High Tea in the lobby. We are so happy we decided to stay here for our New Year's Eve during our trip to South Africa!

Thank you Fairmont Zimbali resort for making our 2012/2013 new year such a wonderful experience.

We visted Fairmont Zimbali Resort just before Christmas for a week. Location was great. Hotel look great from the outside but inside there is some maintenance issues. The parking is just out in the open sun ( no covered parking!) and often hogged by day visitors and function attendees. Check-in was nothing special. Some confusion where to put us despite booking and paying weeks before. The room was nice and big. Bathroom was beautiful but basin was blocked and toilet kept draining excreta from rooms above (we were on ground floor in garden suite) and we had to flush it frequently. We booked for two adults and 2 children under 12. The room had a big king sized bed but the mattress was very soft and the feather pillows smelled awful and one of the scatter cushions smelled of old vomit. The sleeper bunk was unsleepable as it had a huge upward kink in the middle and the mattress was too thin (nobody could ever sleep comfortably on it). We inquired twice at reception and eventually two maintanance people came to look but could not see what the problem was. With much convincing they brought in an extra single bed. This helped because then we only shared our bed with one child and not two. There was totally insufficient amount of hangers in the cupboard and although I phoned THREE times for more it was never attended to. The cleaning staff always left the mopped floor soggingly wet which was a accident waiting to happen (causing new soiled footmarks from walking on it ). The free Wi-Fi was bit of an effort as one first had to go and register at Concierge counter by filling out a form to join the Presidents Club (then took while to activate and signal not consistant). The main pools was not inviting as it was merky, made your eyes burn from chloramines escaping and very noisy music playing. The pools next door (Bushbuck pools) was much better. The best pools in Zimbali remain the Valley of the Pools but not always easy to access (especially if you're new to the area/set-up). The hotel boast free bicycle use (BMW bikes!) but they are in a terrible state of maintenance (rust, flat tyres, non-functioning gears and seat adjustments) and golf carts(but on enquiring only one available for hotel guests at R250 per hour). The Coral Tree restaurant for breakfasts had the best service we saw at the hotel and a nice selection of foods (one of the highlights of our stay). In all the hotel is not worth the price they charge and the Zimbali Forrest Suites is a much better value with beautiful suites with your own butler and golf cart (we stayed there 2 years before). The overall feel of the Hotel is not fitting of a five star hotel and a bit of a disappointment.
