“comfortable and spacious rooms”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

We recently stayed at the Forest suites. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, large bathrooms and nicely situated in the forest. There is no view except for the trees as you are in the forest. Staff were friendly and helpful and the inclusive breakfast was good, service a bit slow at breakfast. They give you a golf cart for your stay so you can drive around the beautiful estate too.

Room Tip: all rooms good

Great location, great surroundings, pity about the staff and the decor. The staff are not very friendly or welcoming. Service at breakfast is unbelievably slow. I was served raw sausages and had to send it back to be cooked. Room service was also very slow. Not sure if they under staffed or just inefficient. The TV's are ancient and don’t work properly, loosing signal at every channel change. There is limited DSTV selection - very disappointing. Not likely to return or recommend. Carpets/rugs need a good scrubbing. Artwork/paintings are horrible. Overall decor is dysfunctional.

We stayed one night at Forest Suites at Zimbali. We were not expecting anything special, but were blown away by what we got. We had a large suite, with many decorations, a large bed, and a large bathroom, with indoor and outdoor shower. There was a large deck looking out at the forest. Be aware that there are monkeys in the area.

But the best thing, we thought, was the golf cart which was included at no charge (but you had to have a deposit on file). We used this to go (way) down to the beach and pool area. Unfortunately, we got there rather late and found that the pool area was closed at 5 PM. But the pools looked very inviting.

The beach was nice, but as an earlier review has noted, swimming is not allowed.

We opted to go into nearby Ballito for dinner, so I can't comment on the food at the hotel. And we left early the next morning (early morning flight), so we didn't have breakfast there either. By leaving early we ran into a small problem. The night person on duty was unfamiliar with how to remove the deposit for the golf cart from the credit card. We ended up leaving without it being resolved, but later found the charge had been removed, as promised.

To get to Forest Suites, you have to check in at the main building, outside the security gate. Then you get a pass to get through the security gate, and many warnings about the low speed limits within the resort. Not a problem, but it all seemed a bit strange.

We would definitely go here again.

The rooms were incredible, large, luxurious and lovely. The food was some of the best we have eaten in a long time. The staff were great being alert to all our needs. All in all a memorable stay. As a couple we had a great time golf spa beach and relaxing an ideal recipe for a weekend away.

My fiance and I spent two nights at the Forest Suites Hotel to celebrate his 30th Birthday. We had an amazing weekend here and loved every minute of it!! The suite was gorgeous and so luxurious with the super comfy big bed and the "OUT OF THIS WORLD BATHROOM"!! The bath is fantastic and big enough for two. And love the indoor and outdoor shower...it's something special. The staff were so friendly and helpful...they all need a pat on their backs!! The food was good and loved that breakfast was included. We loved the special touches like the bath robes, chocolates on pillow and the gold cart which are all included. It's a small hotel with only 10 suites so is perfect for couples. We stayed in Suite 4 which is close to Reception and to the Milkwood Restaurant which was perfect for us as it was central but was still private. My fiance said that he had the most amazing birthday at this Hotel and we can't wait to return some time soon hopefully.

We spent two nights at this hotel, within the Zimbali resort. Extremely comfortable suite, especially travelling with children. Private, quiet and lots of space. The only problem we encounterd is the lack of communication from the hotel staff - no crisis - but more information about the facility and resort would have been welcomed. For quality, clean and luxurious accommodation at an affordable price - this is it. The kids enjoyed the golf cart rides around the Zimbali resort tremendously!

The Forest Suites are set in a stunning forest as part of the overall world class Zimbali Resort. The suites themselves are 5 star and beautifully appointed with lovely furniture, luxurious linen, and a bathroom that rivals anything I have seen in the best of hotels. The Zimbali resort facilities are available to guests, as is a very handy golf cart to get around the vast estate. There are several infinity pools around the resort, which is cool - the beach is a stunning 5-7km stretch of beauty but not safe for swimming due to the steep shelf down to the water.

Breakfast was included in the price of our stay and was a modest 3 star offering - nothing special unfortunately as this was out of keeping with the rest of the place. Our suite didnt have a kitchenette which would have been nice as an alternative to the hotel breakfasts on some mornings.

Everywhere we went staff was friendly, helpful and polite. However, overall information on the Zimbali resort and how to get around and what to see in Ballito (the nearby town) was scant - even on Trip Advisor. Once we figured things out though there is something for everyone and plenty of great offerings for all tastes.

This is a marvellous place if you don't want the typical seaside apartment so typical of the KZN North Coast.
