“Wow! What a wonderful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2013

We spent 1 night at the Royal Elephant hotel in Centurion, Pretoria. We had just returned from a week's visit to Zimbabwe and wanted somewhere to spend a relaxing evening before heading home the following day. The Royal Elephant taxi met us at our arrival point and conveyed us in style to the Hotel. On arrival we were greeted warmly and handed a glass of champagne and orange juice. Check-in was speedly dealt with and we were taken to our room. What a wonderful room, so beautifully furnished. The room was huge with every modern convenience, flat screen tv, tea/coffee making facilites, comfy dressing gowns and even some snacks for us to enjoy. The bathroom was huge and very well equipped. The hotel had prior notice that this was part of our 48th wedding anniversary trip and whilst we were at dinner they decorated the room with candles, rose petals and chocolates. Such a wonderful surprise and we were totally bowled over by the gesture. Reception had kindly made a dinner reservation for us at Zagora restaurant, the meal was of a very high standard and the service was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend both the Royal Elephant and Zagora Restaurant to anyone who wants somewhere special to stay.

From the moment I booked into the Royal Elephant Hotel till the moment I left it was just the best experience in Hotel Hospitality that I have ever witnessed. The Palacial surroundings and decor the attentive staff. Truly truly fantastic I could not make one improvement other than by going over the top with extravagance on existing facilities. Well done to all the staff for all the hard work.

Room Tip: It is impossble to be dissappointed which ever room you were allocated.

An upmarket venue ideal for conferences due to it being away from any city centre. Breakfast menu at conference facility very broad and fairly priced. Rooms are sspacious with very large bathrooms all based on a Moroccan theme. For those who enjoy a quiet refreshment there is a small pub / lounge to the left of the main dining area which can easily be missed.

Reception area service good, but can be improved to match the standard offered by the overall facility.

Room Tip: Restaurant offers food theme nights which offer very good value.

If you are in Centurion on anywhere in the Pretoria area, treat yourself to this eating experience.
My wife and I decided to attend the Sunday buffet lunch at the Royal Elephant, and what a pleasant experience this turned out to be.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted in a friendly and welcoming way by the staff. Daniel accompanied us to our table and provided a very friendly and professional service throughout. Our empty dishes and used cutlery was replaced promptly. All the dishes from the starters to desert were very well presented and extremely tasty. They obviously have a world class chef in charge of the cuisine. A staff member, Happy manned the carvery and warm dishes serving area and provided a very friendly and helpful service. At the dessert station there was a delightful and enthusiastic Steven in attendance. Although a trainee, he diligently explained the content of each dish to us that we enquired about.
Relaxing background music was provided by a talented musician on a grand piano. He played a variety of classics that included Tulips from Amsterdam and even local classics like Sarie Marais.
The hotel and restaurant layout, together with the superb cuisine on offer, provided a truly African dining experience; last enjoyed by us at the Savuti Restaurant in the Gaborone Sun in Botswana.

My boyfriend and I had lunch at the Royal Elephant. The service from Mpumie was wonderful! The venue itself is AMAZING! I can honestly say that if I were to get married soon, this would be the venue I would choose!!!! Well done!!!

Room Tip: We didn't sleep over. Only had lunch. Wish I could sleep over!
