Description: It looks like a steakhouse. Mmmm, it smells like a steakhouse. And it certainly tastes like a steakhouse. But Karoo Cattle & Land is more than just a steakhouse. It's a top steak-based restaurant. And a South African one at that, featuring traditional SA fare like bobotie and boerewors, as well as steaks cut from the very best South African beef. Although famous for its red meat and ribs, KC&L's menu caters for all tastes and includes a sumptuous selection of the freshest SA fish and poultry, a choice of vegetarian dishes and free salads. For the health-conscious, there's even ostrich.

Had the Spatchcock Peri Peri chicken..... Looked more like an eagle on the plate....definitely not complaining! Enjoyed the fact that Sydney, the manager, visited the table. Waiters were well trained and extremely friendly. My friend had the Fillet steak which looked extremely appetizing as well. Overall a good solid experience

Always helpful to get one a table without a booking. The food is not bad but when a person asks for a medium well steak they shouldn't bring you a piece of meat that tastes like coal. The vegetables are horrible and the service is slow most of the time. Avoid and rather go to another restaurant close by!

There are a few branches of this franchise around. Good food and decent portion sizes for the price. They have a wide things to choose from if you are a meat eater - from tongue in a mustard sauce, pork belly, steaks...
They do wine by the bottle or by the glass.
Great little mall , the restaurant is situated with in the view of the upside down cow statue... The restaurant has seating outside near the water fountain. if you have kids getting wet in the fountain on a summer afternoon is lots of fun. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, you can be seated indoors or upstairs which is a little more romantic if that is your aim.

My hubby and I spent our date night at this restaurant one evening. From the front it doesn't look that big, and it wasn't until I went inside that I saw that there was an upstairs area. It was a pleasant surprise because it was nicely decorated and had a romantic ambiance to the place which was perfect. I ordered the oxtail which was great and my hubby ordered this huge chicken but it smelled a bit funny, so much so he didn't even bother to eat it. I ordered a Mojito and I must say it's the worst I have ever had. It tasted like soda water and mint, NO LEMON! I had to send it back. Hence my low rating. I will rate the different things separately below.

Being a meat lover, the visit to this establishment was interesting and slightly obtuse. Interesting by the way they present their food e.g. garlic snails encased in a pastry jacket and obtuse in the way they presented their salad bar. The former was a novel way of presenting the staid way snails are usually presented while the former left much to be desired.

The meat fare, rump and sirloin, were done to the asked grill intensity and very tender to boot: licking the plate clean was not undertaken out of respect for the other customers.

The only bugbear remained the salad bar. Produce on offer was minimalistic as opposed to the price being asked. In between lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot and carrots, the choices remained lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot and carrots. No olives, feta, onions, beans or cucumber.

Oh yes, sauces on offer were plentiful.

All in all, a pleasant night out in the company of a loved one - the private cubicles offer a romantic atmosphere of seclusion and intimacy.

Hello Filipe N. Thank you so much for your very positive comments! Our snails in filo pastry baskets with a light Roquefort sauce has been our signature starter for the last 6 years and continues to delight our guests, as you discovered! Meat is of course the core of our restaurant and we strive to ensure well aged rump and sirloin at all times, properly grilled and served with vegetables and starch of your choice included in the price. I am sorry the salad cart disappointed you. This is also a complimentary addition to main meals and should have had many more choices in the 16 compartments. It is refilled regularly so perhaps you caught it after a rush? Unfortunately olives, feta cheese and some other favourites like avaocado are too expensive to include on the complimentary salad cart, which guests may help themselves to as often as they wish, but we do offer two salads on the menu that are more exotic. Let me know next time you plan to visit as I'd like to have a chance to chat to you! Thanks again - 0828001798. Rod
