Trip was arranged to get the most out of the many hills around Haenertsburg. the support aim was to get as much fishing time as possible . Both were achieved with a comfortable nights rest included. Peace and tranquility with easy access to all the adventure you need

This is a great place to unwind and get away from it all. Lots to do for the outdoor enthusiasts; fishing, hiking, walking, jogging, trail running, mountain biking, photography - whatever your interest is. If you're not the active type, just lazing around reading a book with the stunning views over the lake will invigorate the senses and restore the soul. We loved the natural forest section and saw some bushbuck on our walks as well!

Room Tip: We stayed in the 2 bed cottage but the cabins overlooking the lake are the real deal - built by Gavi...

Excellent - wonderful place and so beautifully kept. The information received before the visit was excellent and Gavin (owner) very helpful. I would definitely stay there again. The scenery was outstanding and we enjoyed the fishing lesson in the village.

We first visited Stanford Farm when we were up in Haenertsburg looking for wedding venues, and the double-story cabin was absolutely picturesque. There's nothing quite like the sunrise over that lake! Gavin was so amazingly friendly - it really made us feel at home. It was cozy and beautiful and clean and well-equipped. Haenertsburg really has a completely different vibe to more commercial places, and when we returned for our wedding (at Mina's Art Cafe and Venue, up the road), there was no question about where we were going to stay! The groomsmen took over the one-storey cabin, and the bride and her maids got ready in the double-storey cabin. The lake made for insanely beautiful photos - check out Judy + Martin's wedding on www[dot]ladandlass[dot]com for some stunning pictures of Stanford. Just a tip - if it rains, the road to the cabins can be mighty tricky. There is also little cellphone reception by the lake - which may be welcomed in such a peaceful part of the country!! - Judy, Martin's wife

Room Tip: Double-storey is the most beautiful, and sleeps up to 8!

The only negative remarks I have of this Lodge is the uncomfortable bed/mattress that has been rounded in the middle which makes it hard to have a good night's rest, and some cutlery and utensils wasn't washed properly. Regardless, we enjoyed the stay and the area surrounding the lodge is just stunning. There was plentiful steaming hot water and the outside braai was a nice touch. We were surprised to see the beds made and the kitchen cleaned up the next morning as we weren't aware that the rates include cleaning service. It was pleasant stay and we'll definitely come again.

Room Tip: The cabins overlook the dams but the cottages are also well suited among plants and flowers.

Hi Lizani,

My sincere apologies for your uncomfortable sleep during your stay! Thank you for letting us know about the bed, we have replaced the base of the bed which was cracked. I have also put a system in place to ensure that no cutlery and utensils fall through the gap and are all properly cleaned.

I am pleased to hear that you still enjoyed your stay and intend to return - please remind me on your next visit to offer you a nice discount.

Regards,
Gavin Stanford

We have travelled to Stanford Lake Lodge on 2 occasions the firstly we enjoyed a stay in the single storey cabin. Whilst the mists swirled around us and occasionally lifted enough to see the beautiful lake and surrounds we snuggled in the cabin with the log fire happily crackling away, enjoying the solitude and time out afforded by the well equipped cabin which sleeps 6 most comfortably. The second time we had the pleasure of a sunny weekend in the double storey cabin and were presented with stunning views, great bird sightings, challenging mountain bike trails, leisurely walks around and swimming in the lake followed by peaceful evenings sipping wine on the deck listing to the sounds of the night. Highly recommended for those who like to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature or the adventures of the great outdoors.

We invited overseas family and friends to join us for the weekend. The cabins were cosy, comfy and were well equipped. The setting overlooking the lake is "picture perfect"; serenity and tranquility prevail, regardless of whether the sun shines or the mist pervades. Outdoor enthusiasts are well advised to take along their bikes, if not their trail shoes; an adventure awaits on the door step. There is lots to do in the area and some excellent restaurants for those that want to eat out. All had a wonderful time and there is no doubt that we will be back!
