We stayed at Blyde River Canyon Lodge for three nights, using it as a base from which to explore the canyon. Absolutely superb staff and service. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Will certainly be returning! Thank you.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Kruger. This was our third visit as we have always found it very comfortable, the food good, especially breakfasts and the staff very pleasant.Above all it feels like an oasis after the drive from Joburg and it is very pleasant to be able to stretch our legs walking round the reserve especially with the chance of spotting some of the various types of game which live in the reserve.Being joined for breakfast by a group of zebra is always special

We stayed 2 nights with family and we all agreed we could have stayed longer. The room, gardens, beautiful old trees, excellent staff (especially Portia) and view of the mountains made for a very relaxing time. Everyone in our group felt totally at peace and relaxed. The meals where some of the best I've had while travelling around South Africa. The highlight for me was having my morning coffee with the zebras by the pool and watching the monkey's play in the trees during breakfast.

Our party of 5 arrived at the lodge about 12:15pm. Portia was there to greet us and gave us
all a cold arrival drink which was greatly appreciated as we had been in the car for hours and
was quite warm. Setting was beautiful as were the grounds. Portia asked us what we wanted to
do while there and we said go on the boat cruise...she called the 3pm was full, but the 1pm had
openings and they would hold the boat for us. Off we went at 12:50 to do the 1 1/2 cruise which
we had heard was great. Arrived at 1:06 pm to find that the boat had left without us! Very
disappointing...but we did the waterfall hike on the way back to the lodge and stopped to take
a few pictures of the dam. As we had not had breakfast, were quite hungry so asked at the lodge if they did lunch we were told NO! However Portia said she would ask the chef if she could make up some snacks for us. They did...and they tasted great!
Our room was the big family suite which slept 5 easily. Very clean and had a great view out
into the gardens. Only problem was that it was quite dark in the lounge at night for reading. Could use a lamp in the living room area.
Went on a walk around the lodge..ran into some zebra which was nice...Named one Oreo and
she came around again at about 5pm to the kitchen area. Very friendly zebra...fed her apples and carrots which we had with us. The deck outside overlooking the pond was in poor shape...rotten planks with one large hole all the way through. The wooden bridge also needs some attention, but overall the lodge is beautiful.
Dinner and breakfast was very good...plenty of food for all. Service very good. Staff friendly and went out of their way to help. Thanks alot Portia for everything.

We stayed 2 nights. The setting is beautiful with the views of the mountains and animals at the pool. We had zebras there both nights. The staff is very attentive and goes above and beyond to ensure you are having a great time. We did eat there twice as well. You get served a 3 course set menu and it is delicious. You will not miss the choice of a big menu I can assure you.

We stayed 5 nights. The setting was beautiful with views of the mountains close to Blyde River. Zebras on the lawn at breakfast and Bushbabies at nightfall ! Food was varied and excellent and a joy to sit on the veranda eating our evening meal.. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our only criticism would be that, on reflection, the pool needed more attention. although it didn't put Jane off swimming !

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lodge so close to the dining area and pool.

The hotel is on an excellent spot, in a calm and peaceful place, right in the middle of the canyon. Not very easy to find. It's definitely very cousy.
The staff is very attentious and pleased to help. The food from the restaurant was very good.
We only stayed a night, but it's a great place to stay if you're staying more time in the canyon area.
Whenever there, try to meet the bushbaby from the owner, very nice and funny creature!
