The lodge is on a concession within the Kruger National Park. The Safari drives in the surrounding Park were something to look forward to and our guide was knowledgeable and made sure that our drives were interesting and informative. We would recommend planning a visit during the winter to avoid the summer heat. Winter is also the best time for game spotting. Guests can be assured of a great experience in a peaceful luxurious safe environment.

This place is in a great location and it is a true experience with the animals as it is part of the Kruger National Park and not a private game reserve where the animals are stocked and staged for viewing. That said, we saw all of the big 5 on the first of our 3 night stay.

The rooms are great and the staff are fantastic. Our guide for our stay was Tim -- I would recommend requesting him.

Rhino Walking Safaris was the absolute bomb! Fantastic. Mark the ranger was a super guy to be around, the rooms / tents were brilliant, the boerewors on the braai at the sleep out was admirable and we were lucky to see a Rhino on the last day.

We were a bit unlucky with the rain in the days before, so the grass was high. In general Kruger itself was very much to our liking. Where in EP the leopards were lying in the grass and were circled by three cars in Kruger we actually saw all animals in their own habitat and moving around. We saw two pythons, wild dogs, porcupine and a lot of lions. On the third day we were the only staying at RWS and Mark took us to a place with the best view of Kruger and maybe the most lovely view we have ever seen. Rhino Post Lodge was great as well, nice too have that waterhole in front of the camp. Very nice ranger who actually grew up in teh region so could tell a lot about the plants and roots, etc.. Food was very nice and the rooms again with an outside shower fabulous.

I was not sure how this place would turn out, considering that it is inside kruger park. But I was pleasantly surprised! The staff and management were terrific! They gave us a real safari experience and we saw tons of game and it was reasonably affordable.
We enjoyed the room very much. It was very comfortable with a terrific outdoor shower. We saw lions at the water hole in front of the common area and giraffe from the room. The staff around the lodge were very pleasant. The food was good, and we had a lovely bush dinner one night, visited by lions!
You do some time on paved roads when on game drives and a bit of a ferrari safari. But this can go to your advantage, considering you can go further and see different landscapes and game. We saw a larger variety of game than in Sabi Sands.
I've been on many safaris and we enjoyed this one more than some of the really high end ones. Simply because they are not trying to dazzle you. It's just a straight forward safari, in Kruger Park, worth every penny!

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon. It was unbelievable! Staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, all staff introduced themselves to you and shook your hand on the first afternoon, memorised our names and used them throuhgout trip. It is small, with 8 luxury rooms which are like the most glamourous tents you could ever imagine - 4 poster beds, views straight out onto the riverbank, patio, roll-top baths and outdoor showers...just so perfect! You cant see the other rooms from any of the rooms, so feels very secluded and peaceful. Rooms are joined to the restaurant with lovely raised wooden decks through the bush.

Food: well, I love food and I have never eaten so well. Afternoon teas before the game drives were magic, with chocolate cake, home baked chicken pie (amazing!!), vegetable skewers, cheeses and biscuits, fruit skewers, the list goes on. Dinners were about 3 choices for each of 3 courses, really some of the best food I have ever had, compares extremely favourably to a very good restaurant even though they produce all the meals in middle of the bush. Wine flowing freely and great conversation with the rangers and staff till all hours. Breakfasts, well just an incredible selection, from home made omlettes made to your requirements, eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, cereal, incredible variety of fresh fruit, pastries etc, all the way to steak slices & chips!

Game viewing: you go on 2 game drives a day, one early morning and the other in the afternoon/evening, each of a couple hours. Game drive vehicles are spacious and not packed - we only had 2 other people on our vehicle the whole time. Stops for drinks/snacks. We saw the most incredible game, everything from the full big 5, spent an hour following a leopard & cub down the road (never seen that anywhere before), bird life (saw Osprey), from herds of about 100 bufalo (never seen that anywhere before) to even the smallest chameleon, our guide was so in tune with the bush.

Rangers: All the rangers are friendly and chatty; we had TJ (Theuns) and he was probably the most experienced. Such a lovely guy, he had an incredible eye for spotting game and talked knowledgeably about everything we saw - he is so obviously a man of the bush and cares immensely about the wildlife and environment. Could not have asked for a better ranger!

Management: spent time over dinner with Nikki and Gerhard the managers, who could not have done more to make sure we were comfortable, happy etc. Such nice people and very easy to stay up late chatting to them into the night.

I've been to a few of the good private lodges in Kruger and this just blew anything else I have seen out of the water. I would recommend it to anyone!
I would love to go back, and also go to the sister camp, Plains Camp, which is much more of a walking camp and you sleep on platforms under the stars - but for luxury, you really can't beat Rhino Post.

We just returned from the most amazing trip in South Africa, where we stayed in the heart of the Kruger Park. We arrived at the safari lodge after a 2.5 hr drive from Nelspruit to a very warm welcome from the staff. Our first morning drive we saw the Big 5 within an hour plus more animals, what more could we ask for!! On our safaris the only things we didn't see were hyena & cheetahs. We had 2 Safari's per day which was more than enough, after a morning brunch we had some 5 hrs to relax and unwind in our rooms or by the pool, before the next safari kicked off.

What made this place even better is that you don't or very rarely see other Safari vehicles, so your experience is even more personal. The lodge has its own concession within the park that no other lodges can access by car; the area is full of wildlife.

Rooms are large and spacious, indoor baths, outdoor showers, no TV's (real bonus). For those that are creature conscious the rooms become home to lizards that help keep flies away.

The staff are excellent, really kind and very personable, they really want to get to know guests.

We had such an amazing time that we probably won’t return for fear of spoiling our memories, but in saying that we are more than happy to recommend this to anyone!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rhino Post Safari Lodge is situated at the southern end of our 12,000 hectare private wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park. The concession shares a 15km unfenced boundary with the famous Mala Mala and Sabi Sand reserve with an abundance of wildlife moving freely between the two reserves. The concession is noted as an excellent game viewing area with encounters with the Big Five and where good sightings of wild animals can be expected. Rhino Post Safari Lodge is set under magnificent Tamboti trees on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed. The nature of a wilderness area is that there are no permanent structures, so Rhino Post Safari Lodge is built with natural materials – stone, wood, thatch and canvas - to give it an authentic bush feel. Each of the 8 suites are beautifully decorated with the bedroom and lounge area having wonderful views of the riverbed. ... more   less
